- Melanie is popular with men while her friend Jane is ignored. Brian Sherwood spends a lot of time with a younger woman. The staff try to figure out which passenger is the Cruise Lines inspector. A Russian man repeats the same phrase.
- A Russian man (Jack Bernardi) goes around the ship, repeating the same phrase. Two girlfriends (Laurette Spang and Debralee Scott) come aboard for the cruise; one girl (Spang) is very popular with the men passengers (Bob Seagren and Sal Viscuso) and the other girl (Scott) is ignored; the staff try to figure out which passenger is the Princess Cruise Lines inspector, one prospect is a man (Jim Backus) who criticizes the ship's procedures; a man (Paul Burke) and a younger woman (Susan Blanchard) spend a lot of time, together.—Chris Andrews
- When Captain Stubing receives word that someone from the Princess cruise line is coming on board to observe the crew for quality control purposes, everyone bends over backwards trying to make a good impression on "The Inspector". The problem is, nobody knows who he or she is. Could it be Marvin Waterman, the cranky middle-aged man who is always checking his watch and making notes? Or perhaps it's Mrs. Corwin, the dizzy blonde who is frequently making ship-to-shore phone calls? Or Mr. Zidresczky, the older man who only talks in a foreign language? In "A Very Special Girl", wallflower Jane Cole is traveling with her friend Melanie Taylor, whose popularity knows no bounds. Fellow passenger Mike Andrews wants to spend time with Melanie, and asks his buddy Doug Ketchum to keep Jane busy. "Until the Last Goodbye" concerns terminally ill New Yorker Brian Sherwood, and the special bond he seems to have with Californian Sarah Lambert.
