High Heels

Somebody is poisoning the water. Rancher, Dave Engels asks the Lone Ranger to help him, but before the Lone Ranger can make himself known, he gets shot at, then witnesses a feud between two rancher friends that seems a bit odd. The person causing all the ruckus is someone that no one would suspect.

Like many of the Lone Ranger episodes, a masked stranger is trusted completely. The cost is high, but there's just something about those eyes that make him believable.

This episode was pretty interesting. I was trying to figure out what was going on, and the reason behind it all was so simple that I should have thought of that myself!

This episode is from 1949, and there weren't many TV sets in the country at that time. Many families wouldn't get TV sets for another 15 years or so.

In this episode, what seemed to be a common problem in the Old West reared its ugly head .... where a new railroad line would come into a town.

However, first there is the little problem of poisoned water holes, and it's setting two friendly ranchers against each other. One has hired the Lone Ranger to solve he mystery, and he and Tonto immediately come under fire from a man in on the scheme.

A wealthy man in town wants to force one of the ranchers to sell, and the Lone Ranger helps him play a trick on the "bad guy" to figure out the whole plot.

Someone is poisoning the water holes on Dave Engels ranch. Wealthy neighbor John St. Ives offers to let Dave use his water, but recants the offer when Hank, one of Engels' hands, makes fun of the high-heeled boots that John wears. John is extremely self-conscience about his short stature. The Ranger and Tonto quickly figure out that someone is deliberately contaminating Dave's water and trying to break up the friendship of Dave and John. But why? And what did The Ranger learn on his visit to a nearby town? Saloon owner Monk Gow offers to help Dave by "temporarily" buying his ranch until John cools off. Then Dave can buy it back. Or can he? It's going to take a slick trick to get this one figured out. Can The Ranger come up with one?
