- Trying to convince Tom Carlin, blinded by a childhood bout with the measles, that he can lead a productive life, Adam Kendall battles Tom's bitter, skeptical father and is unexpectedly aided by the underdog Winoka Warriors, who have just lost their star player to a rival football team.—shepherd1138
- School is a problem no matter where you are -- that is, if you're a kid. So true here. The only school was a private one so kids like the Ingalls girls, Andy Garvey and Albert Quinn, who's parents can't afford the tuition had no school. That changed with Alice Garvey and Caroline Ingalls get a "public school" started. Among other things the private school has a football team - supposedly so good they are undefeated. Laura's worst foes, Nellie and Willie Olsen go to the private school and make sure Laura and her friends know it. Rather than coming to blows, a challenge is made - the "livery school" against the private school in a football game. Except for one very, very large boy - Laura's team has no team, but figure their "goliath" can win the game for them. Things just never work out the way they should - the star of the new "Winoka Warriors" is suddenly gone when his family is given a full tuition scholarship to the private school. Quoting Laura's favorite saying, "it just ain't fair". Probably not but necessity often breeds miracles.
