Caroline : Don't you realize that this senseless squabbling is ruining our church? Hurting our children?

Mr. Kennedy : Your children, maybe, not mine. I told you before, the matter is closed, and you can tell that husband of yours it's going to stay this way till talk of this DAMN BELL comes to an end and we find ourselves a new minister!

Caroline : I'll thank you to watch your language!

Mr. Kennedy : My house; say what i like!

Caroline : You would. You don't care that your neighbors aren't speaking to each other, and that your children and mine are ACHING over this terrible feud!

Mr. Kennedy : I said before, Mrs. Ingalls, the matter is closed!
Hans Dorfler : [Discussing the new Church bell] Mr. Ingalls, we're a poor community. If we accept the gift of the bell, that way it won't cost us anything.

Lars Hanson : If we take the bell, and then you want a new church, that should also be for free?

Hans Dorfler : Hanson, that's not true.

Mr. Kennedy : Not exactly for nothing, Hanson, you're going to be standing right there, ready to sell the lumber!

Lars Hanson : [angrily] Listen, I contribute as much as any man in this town!
Mr. Kennedy : Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but... I feel this is God's house. And we built it with our own hands. I don't think the Lord's gonna like it much if we put somebody else's name on it.
