Perhaps in a nod to the lifestyle he was leading as a runaway when the Ingalls found him on the streets of Winoka, Albert names his new calf after the fictional character Fagin, the miserly leader of the band of pickpocketing children from the Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist.
