I must admit that this episode really does annoy me a little bit. After all, Laura is what...thirteen years old or something like that? She's always had her father and mother. She's a well-adjusted child, yet some boy gets attention from her father and she just goes all psycho?
I know I'm being a bit harsh, and I can understand maybe feeling a little sad that things are changing. I probably would have punched Nellie in the nose too. But I think she was just a little too little- girlish in this episode. I mean, if she hadn't seen her Pa in several months or something and she returns and suddenly finds a boy taking up all her father's time, I can understand...Okay, maybe I am too harsh!
With that said, I really like Albert. He cares so much for Charles and Caroline and really wants to be part of the family. But when he feels his being there threatens the family he leaves. He doesn't want to stand the the way of them being a family just because he never had one.
Another thing that bugs me about this show is Carrie's immaturity. She doesn't act any different now or play any bigger part in the family life than she did in the first episode. I think she should be acting a little bit more like Laura did when the show first started. She never did get over the baby talk...
The ending to this episode is nothing less than precious!
