- New assistant DA Abbie Carmichael aggressively investigates an infant's death and helps uncover a conspiracy involving a Russian adoption agency, gravely ill children, and an unethical doctor.
- Detectives Briscoe and Curtis investigate the death of a recently adopted baby who the parents say fell out of her crib. When the police search their apartment, they find another child, their 7-ear old son, Nicholas Waring. The detectives subsequently find that he was severely abused before he was adopted by the Warings and that he could possibly be a sociopath. Recently transferred ADA Abbie Carmichael takes charge of the case, intent on finding what exactly happened. The investigation leads to a Russian baby broker who was finding homes for sick children and to an American couple who got rid of the baby as soon as they found out how ill she was.—garykmcd
- Briscoe and Curtis investigate the death of a baby who was recently adopted. The M.E. is too busy to do the autopsy. They make an assumption by looking at the baby, and they assume that she suffered some trauma. Briscoe and Curtis try to enter the apartment of the couple who adopted the baby but they won't let them. They turn to the new A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael, who zealously gets them a warrant so that they can enter the apartment. And they learn that the couple has another child, a boy who's mentally challenged and prone to fits of rage. Abbie has the child removed so that it could be assessed if he did something that caused the baby's death. Jack upon learning of what she did, is not impressed and thinks she jumped the gun. But Schiff tells him that she's already proved herself and to work with her. Jack goes to see her and tells her she may have been a little hasty. The M.E. concluded that the baby didn't die from anything that the boy did to her. She had a preexisting condition which led to her death and that she wasn't a new born. They ask the couple where they got the baby and learn it was a gray adoption. It seems that the lawyer who handled the adoption was the one who had the baby and his wife couldn't handle taking care of a child who was sick so they got rid of her and to make sure they used another child's birth certificate to pass the baby off as healthy. Jack decides to prosecute them and they blame the doctor from Russia, where they got the baby, who told them that the baby was healthy. Jack decides to prosecute him too. And Abbie takes a hard line on them.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
