While stalling for time at John Stewart's trial, Flash parodies Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., one of the lawyers on O.J. Simpson's defense team, with the line "If the ring wasn't lit, you must acquit". This line being a parody of Cochran's own line, "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit".
This episode is loosely adapted from a story titled "No World Escapes the Manhunters" that appeared in "Justice League of America" (vol.1) issue # 141 from April 1977 written by Steve Englehart. Differences from that story include the inclusion of Kanjar Ro, the Flash's attempt to act as Johnnie Cochrane, and, of course, the Green Lantern in question being John Stewart rather than Hal Jordan.
A minor character was originally going to be the witness, but the writers eventually decided to have it be Kanjar Ro, a major early Justice League comics villain.
This is the second time an episode on a DCAU project has its title taken from the Green Lantern oath. Superman: The Animated Series (1996) had the first which was, In Brightest Day... (1999).
Included as a special feature on the bluray release of Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022).
