When Morse and Lewis go to old Mrs. Lapsley in the end, where Morse plays a game of chess with her, they are driving in Morse's car. When they leave her, drive back and talk about the game of chess in the car, they are driving in Lewis's car.
When Morse asks the police photographer how he knew that the photograph of Mary Lapsley and her mother was taken in Blackpool in 1969 he replies that it was written on the back, but Lewis had already taken the photograph out of its frame and flipped it over on the way back from the nursing home. There was no writing visible.
When the constable discovers that Redpath has tried to commit suicide he drops a tray of food he is holding, in long shot it flips over but in close-up it lands the proper way up.
When Redpath's daughter comes to visit her father in the hospital, she is wearing a red outfit with a red sweater. When she exits the hospital and Morse approaches her, she is wearing the same red outfit with a black leather jacket and no sweater.
