Belly Full of Turkey (#1.9)

Warning: Spoilers
This is a pretty entertaining episode. The story of Marshall and Lily is both funny and sweet. His family is indeed terrifying, but good for entertainment. In a way I was surprised Marshall grew up with those people, he seems so much more developed and less of a village guy, but I guess we didn't get to know him all the way yet. Lily being arrested for public urination and her and Marshall discussing future while waiting to look at the result was very sweet, and made one laugh.

The story of Barney volunteering was confusing to me as well until we found out why he does it and all made sense again. Thanksgiving in a strip club isn't really depressing, it is awesome! And there really wouldn't be anything bad if Ted met the mother there...

A Return To Form
slightlymad2215 November 2014
A return to form for "How I Met Your Mother" and once again it's all down to one man. And that man is Neil Patrick Harris, take a bow sir.

Plot In A Paragraph: It's Thanksgiving and while Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) visit his family in Minnesota, and an emotional Lily has few problems and is unsure about how her future with Marshall will look like. Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Ted (Josh Radnor) want to volunteer at a homeless shelter kitchen. Surprisingly, They find Barney (a fun Neil Patrick Harris) at the kitchen, who has secretly been doing volunteer work for the past few years.

At the end in the strip club, we learn the mother's name is Tracy.

The One On Thanksgiving...

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. I actually just rewatched it for the hundredth time a few weeks ago. I love holiday-themed episodes, so of course I was predisposed to liking this episode. It was a great first Thanksgiving episode for the series, and the way they continue to metaphorically "kill it" each season just makes me so freaking happy.

In this episode, it's Thanksgiving, and everyone's got big plans, well sort of. Marshall and Lily go stay in Minnesota with Marshall's rather eccentric and very tall family. While there, we discover that Lily thinks she's pregnant, and is worrying about having a giant Erikson baby in her belly. She actually leaves mid-meal to take a pregnancy test, and since she gets arrested for public urination, Marshall and Lily discover she isn't pregnant in a jail cell. Meanwhile, Robin and Ted go to a homeless shelter to volunteer, only to discover that Barney is also there, and is actually Volunteer Of The Year. But sadly, they eventually get kicked out when Ted finds out that the other volunteers are taking donation food home with them, and he tries to give it to its rightful owners, homeless people. Also, you may think it's weird that Barney was volunteering, caring about anyone but himself, but it turns out that he is actually doing court-ordered community service.

Best part of this episode: Everything!

Worst part of this episode: Nothing in particular.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking ridonkulous.

Tallest family ever
ahmed-r-726-15914116 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS: Marshall's family is really special, it's the tallest family i ever seen in a TV show or movie. Lily at 164cm ( 5ft5 ) felt short next Marshall's mother played by Suzie Plakston at 187cm ( 6ft2 ) and his sister played by Jennifer Ann Wilson at 188cm ( 6ft2 ) which is very rare and amazing to see women that tall in a tv show. Sadly we didn't know the actress of the third women in the family but i loved all the height jokes and puns and fears. Honestly Lily shouldn't worry because the baby won't be that tall or heavy because she is way shorter than the other women in Marshall's family.

That stealing food in the volunteering place was very irritating but Barney nailed it with being the volunteer of the year 😂

The end was very funny with the stripper "Tracy" which is also kinda tall at 175cm (5ft9 ) and bob saget's voice 😂
