I is for Incompetence

The Kramden and Norton apartments are disasters. The building janitors have been quitting right and left and nothing gets done. When Ralph finds out the salary and that the apartment would be free, he decides to moonlight. Naturally, he has no knowledge of what is wrong or how to fix it, so he becomes another useless janitor. He installs a type of intercom where people can call him to repair things. It is terribly loud and abrasive, and Ralph can't go a minute without getting a call. Eventually, he has to take drastic measures. Lightweight episode for a really fat guy.

Mr. Fix-it

Ed's water pipe doesn't work, Ralph's window won't work, in fact, all the apartments have fix- it gripes. That's mainly because janitors in the building get no respect and quit. Ralph can't understand since he gave the latest one a cigar for X-mas, that is, between making complaints all times night or day. Now the landlord wants to kick Ralph and Norton out, blaming them for the problem.

But Ralph sees an opportunity. Why not take over janitorial duties himself in his off-hours. Well, you can imagine the headaches this creates in the Kramden household, especially when our porky hero gets stuck between two air ducts. And mustn't forget his newly installed phone buzzer that could wake the dead.

Of course, there's a ton of humor packed into the pregnant premise. Plus, the cast plays it deftly, as they most always do. Nothing special here, Honeymooner-wise. Just 30-minutes of almost continuous laughs. Or what fans happily expect from this classic series.
