Nothing Personal

This episode is the first acting role for Dean Winters (Tom Marans), he goes on to star in Tom Fontana's other hit series Oz (1997). Winters also later plays Detective Brian Cassidy, who becomes John Munch's partner when he transfers to the NYPD on Law & Order: Unità Speciale (1999). Cassidy leaves SVU after only a year due to having difficulty working with sex crimes and transfers to narcotics doing undercover work and becomes a recurring character on SVU and has several appearances on Criminal Intent (2001) as Cassidy while working undercover. After finishing a major undercover assignment with narcotics Cassidy gets reprimanded for using drugs on the job, he gets recruited by Internal Affairs who decide to use him for another undercover assignment investigating a precinct with several suspected dirty cops, telling him that doing this assignment is the only way to keep his detective's shield. Cassidy is temporarily demoted back to being a uniformed officer and assigned to this precinct, after rooting out the corrupt officers Cassidy turns down IAB's offer to get his shield back, not liking how they blackmailed him into working for them. Instead he leaves the NYPD and follows in Munch's footsteps becoming a DA Investigator for the Manhattan County District Attorney's Office, finally finding a job he feels at peace doing.

Felton is continually frustrated by not being able to find where his wife took his kids. But his son called him at the police station, Felton could have contacted the Baltimore police switchboard and gotten the number that his son called from, from there it would be easy enough for a police detective to find the physical address of that number.
