Duncan heads to Paris and is reunited with Hugh Fitzcairn, who is romancing Naomi, a co-worker in a high class kitchen. But Kalas has followed Duncan and now has Fitzcairn on his hit list.
One of the most surprising things about this episode is how little Kalas actually appears. While in the previous episode he was pulling the strings all along, here he doesn't get involved at all until around the halfway mark. This does result in some oddities, notably who exactly is behind the car that tries to run Duncan and Fitz off the road? We know it's not an immortal driving it so...Are they working for Kalas? Is Fitzcairn's rival Patrick behind it?
On the plus side, someone's learnt from the mistake of Fitzcairn's previous appearance and put him and Duncan together for a good chunk of the episode. Their repartee sparkles and Duncan's fondness for this man who irritates him on the surface has never been more evident. It sets up him becoming one of Kalas' victims being even more tragic.
Second appearances for both Fitzcairn and Kalas; Kalas was last seen last episode but Fitzcairn hasn't been seen since the Season 1 finale The Hunters (which we get a brief clip of here). First appearance of the season for Maurice, last seen in Season 2's Prodigal Son. Neither Joe nor Anne appears. Joe and Kalas will be back next episode, Anne and Maurice will next appear in Take Back the Night. Fitzcairn next appears in flashback in Season 4's Till Death.
Maurice has managed to retrieve Duncan's barge, which he sold in the Season 2 finale. The flashback shows Duncan and Fitzcairn deciding to learn to read, which Mako recalled them doing in Season 2's Under Colour of Authority.

WUSSTEST DU SCHON:
- PatzerMacLeod and Fitzcairn should not be concerned about dying in a car crash. The only way they could die is by decapitation.
- Zitate
Duncan MacLeod: Come on, Fitz, what'd you do and who'd you do it to?
Hugh Fitzcairn: Me? Why me? You're the one with enemies on every continent.
