Strother Martin in Gunsmoke (1955)

Trivia

Cooter

Gunsmoke

Edit
Featured player Strother Martin was so in love with this story that he ordered a print for personal viewing. He would go on to play in many more features with Sam Peckinpah as writer and/or director.
Kitty sports a new "beauty mark" (a small mole on her right cheek) that she keeps for the remainder of the series.
This is the first time Matt wears a "Buscadero" holster. This style of holster was invented in the 1920's and used by Hollywood cowboys. The holster and gun belt are a single piece instead of a holster that slides over a gun belt as Matt wears in previous episodes.
Matt has a new pistol with stag-horn grips that he uses from now on in the series.
The new "stag" grips on Matt's pistol were actually faux stag Franzite brand made of plastic. Except for a couple of episodes early in Season 2, these grips were used for most of the rest of the show. James Arness used two or three different pistols, so sometimes wood grips could be seen after this episode, and the Franzite grips could still be seen during the transition to real stag grips around Season 17. As the story goes, a fan wrote in to point out that Matt Dillon's pistol would not have plastic grips, so they finally gave him real stag grips.
