This episode is the perfect bridge for the second season. In most cases, characters change in slight ways only when you really look at them. This episode examines the change.
Michelle is old enough to walk and talk and DJ's hair look more 80s. Other than that, everything, look-wise, is the same. Well, it just starts that way. The start of the episode with Jesse's mullet is clearly a hairpiece. When it comes off, a new chapter of John Stamos' career begins. Say goodbye to Blackie Parish!
Stephanie enjoys giving people pretend haircuts, so she promises to be careful with Jesse. Everybody knows how in love Jesse is with his hair. A simple distraction causes her to snip a huge chunk from the back of Jesse's hair. Angry, Jesse gets a real haircut and his fury distracts him from a sign that costs him his motorcycle and almost his life. His arms are broken and Stephanie feels guilty. Although generic, the plot with Jesse and Stephanie is warm.
Jesse then sees it as a sign for him to change, as he has been in a rut for the last ten years.
Good to see the start of the new era and new Jesse.
