Clever Case of Mistaken Identity
Hitchcoc24 October 2019
This episode involves a three way connection with Kenny, Frasier, and Kenny's wife. A case of mistaken identity is set in motion and everything is wonderful from there on. A sad part of this is Daphne getting bigger and bigger since she and Niles have been together. My favorite part of this, however, has to do with Roz using a powerful man magnet substance.

Warning: Spoilers
Finally!!

Not only do we get a rare decent episode of 'Frasier' for a change (wow, this eighth series of the show has really been a dud), but we also get to see the end (I hope) of this woeful 'Daphne is gaining weight' plotline, which is by far the worst example of a show trying to cover the fact one of its cast is pregnant that I've seen.

In general this is a good episode too, a rare return to form for 'Frasier'. Lots of nice dialogue (the 'crane' joke is excellent) and a return to the sort of farce based plot that this show used to be able to pull of in its sleep. Now such form is a very rare thing.

Yes, the fat suit is terrible, so is the whole Daphne plotline, but on this occasion it all just about works.

Another classic!

Warning: Spoilers
Another fantastic episode of Fraser. From beginning to end just non stop hilarity. Kenny accidentally sets up a date with a woman although hes married. Fraser goes to the restaurant to meet this woman only to confront Kennys wife who already got rid of the original woman. Hilarity will then ensue for the remainder of the episode. Between Fraser now accidentally dating Kennys wife to figuring out how to deal with Daphnes weight issue. Daphne trips on one of Eddies toys and hurts her ankle. Niles can't lift her. Martin then comes home to help but still they can't get her up. Finally Fraser comes in and they get her up. Martins line of "Hey Daph, I just realized it took 3 Cranes to lift you" was one of the funnier lines in the episode. Overall a 10. Kenny is a great character and although hes cheesy he is very needed to balance a show like this.

A good/fine episode absolutely ruined by...

Illeana Douglas. She is so distractingly annoying/off-putting. Don't know why she was ever cast in anything ever.

I really like Kenny. Happy he gets a lot of good screen time in this one.

I don't care for what they did with Daphne. Of all their options to "hide" her pregnancy, I guess they were kind of boxed in....but this is just where Frasier has pretty much lost what it had, and is morphing into something else.

Just not as fun as Frasier gets more desperate/pathetic...and Daphne and Niles just turn into a boring couple doing boring couple things.

This may be the marker...the pre Niles/Daphne...and post.

The episodes of transitioning INTO Niles/Daphne are fine enough...but now the show starts going to a different beat.

Hmmm...a rating? Not 10 9 8...and not a 7.

Not a 5, so I guess a 6.

It's either a very good 6 or its an extremely generous 7...and I can't give this a 7.

Thank God, she's off

Warning: Spoilers
Daphne is the size of an average hyppo and it is painful to watch her in the scenes with Niles who's about 1/3 of her size. So happy she finally went away from the show so we don't have to watch these embarassing scenes (writers did that, nothing to do with Jane Leevs).
