Kelsey Grammer and Laurie Metcalf in Frasier (1993)

Trivia

Caught in the Act

Frasier

Edit
Nanny G (Laurie Metcalf) asks Frasier (Kelsey Grammer), "Do you have any idea what its like to play the same character for 20 years?", a reference to the fact that Kelsey Grammer has played Frasier Crane for 20 years.
The scenes during Nanny G's (Laurie Metcalf) show were not shot in front of a studio audience; they were played back on a TV monitor to get a laugh track. The audience laughed so hard that the volume had to be turned down to avoid drowning out the dialogue.
Laurie Metcalf is the third actress to play Nanette/Nanny G. Emma Thompson portrayed Nanny G on Cheers (1982) in 1992, while Dina Spybey-Waters played the character in the 2001 episode Don Juan in Hell: Part 2 (2001) of Frasier.
John Mahoney (plays Marty Crane) and Laurie Metcalf (plays Nanny G) are both ensemble members of the Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago.
It won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series.
