After Maris kicks Niles (David Hyde Pierce) out, he shows up at Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) wearing a pirate outfit. The shirt is the same "Puffy Shirt" that Jerry Seinfeld wore in an episode of Seinfeld (1989).
Niles (David Hyde Pierce), when relating to Daphne (Jane Leeves) his first meeting with Maris, says she was returning from the antique mart with a rare bell jar once owned by Sylvia Plath. Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. Known primarily for her poetry, Plath also wrote a semi-autobiographical novel, "The Bell Jar" under the pseudonym Victoria Lucas.
This is the first episode in which any of the main characters verbally address Niles' infatuation with Daphne. Frasier is the first to speak of it.
This is the first time that the Crane Mansion is shown. The large ground-floor drawing room will be the only set used for scenes at their home.
