A Day Like Any Other Day
Hitchcoc25 October 2019
Each cast member is dealing with some issue that takes place on a single day. Roz has borrowed Frasier's BMW, driving him crazy. Frasier goes off to assist in a real estate deal. Niles and Daphne go to the dog park. And Martin deals with something incredibly painful to him. There are no easy answers for any of them.

Missed Opportunity

I agree with the other viewer of Wasted Chance. They could've built an episode around Martin having to go to the parole hearing. And I think it would've explained a lot of things. Here Martin could've expanded on why he didn't want to say anything at his shooters parole hearing. Or they could've had him say something as to why maybe he supported his parole. Or more information on the woman that showed up at the parole hearing. I'm making the assumption here that it was that guy's mother. I think it would help. A lot of people understand the process of what other people go through. It was a missed opportunity. Instead of sticking it in there like it was a hiccup or a nuisance. I'm very disappointed in the writers on this one.

Consequential Indifference Curves.

The Subtitle: 'Mommie Dearest'. It refers to a Mother's love. Marty's painful memories becomes an issue. It's a community issue that we're all concerned about. He then becomes secretive & deceitful about his day's event.

Due to the nature & sensitivity of this already emotive episode, it's just as well that it wasn't made into a 'feature' length episode, otherwise we may forget that 'it's only comedy'.

Wasted chance

This could have been a stand out episode with Martin going to the parole hearing. I don't understand why they didn't commit a whole episode to this. They constantly commit episodes to frasier's womanising. Martin attends the hearing and says nothing, personally, I'd have gone deeper into the shooter being released and niles and frasier having to help their dad come to terms with it. I know it's a comedy but at this late stage the comedy was drying up as it was all just about frasier and woman he sleeps with.

Completely unconnected story lines...handful of funny parts but mostly forgettable episode.

A Day in May

What a load of rubbish.

This feels like a filler episode towards the end of a series, with three plots that don't interconnect, and none of which are any good.

Lana is a terrible character, and I don't see why the writers were quite so fascinated by her. Ok, she presents a different sort of love interest character for Frasier, but not much else.

The Daphne and Niles storyline is seriously weak, but then again, all their plots have been since Daphne returned. It makes a nice change from them arguing though.

As for the Martin plot, it pretty much sums up how the eighth series has gone - full of potential, and yet falls down in the execution.

Lousy.
