Story has great characters
vitoscotti3 November 2022
The recurrent theme of recent episodes is a plodding first half of the story ending with a hilarious finale. Fred's keeping secrets from Wilma always leads to trouble. The whole hiding the ring thing is similar to the horse race winnings hid under a rock done previously. A stalled episode ignites with the meeting of Mr Slate (Bill Thompson) In the ripoff jewelry store. He has the wimpiest voice. Things get very funny at the boxing ring with Alan Reed and Mel Blanc as the manager and dullard fighter's voices. The main four actors doing other voices is a favorite of mine hearing their talents expanded. Barney's voice never sounds the same even changing mid episode.

Barney Vs The Champ

Barney buys a diamond ring for Betty, he gives it to Fred to hide and Wilma thinks it is for her.

A standard farce situation of misunderstandings, but a very funny one. The early scenes of Fred putting the ring in a bowl of flour and Wilma making a cake are great. Frank Nelson is a guest voice as jewelry store clerk, he was famous for his squealing voice saying "yyyyessss". Funny scene at the end when Barney tries to win money by boxing The Champ. The Champ's voice sounds like it was done by Alan Reed.
