This episode makes no sense
bpatrick-828 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Why would Wilma and Betty object to Fred and Barney's business, especially when it looks like it's doing pretty well? Is it because the guys didn't tell the wives about it first? Still an enjoyable episode and one of the reasons the first two seasons of the show seem better than the later ones (read: after Pebbles and Bamm Bamm were added).

2 lines stuck with me since airing in 1960

To this day I remember the line about the Parsley and also the line about the used cars parked in front of the restaurant so it looks busy. For many years, I thought that was a trick some owners used. Then, as a manager of a business, I used to have my employees park closer to the store when sales were slow so we looked busy. It worked!!

The voices are a little off from what some of you may remember in later episodes. I found it a funny idea but as others have mentioned it is a little lacking in the laugh department. I think the writers were more interested in their idea than in the actual jokes. I am not a fan of most songs in cartoons and this was no exception.

Poor Fred and Barney
brimfin27 October 2021
Fred and Barney, frustrated with their dead-end jobs, decide to go into business for themselves by buying a drive-in restaurant. They don't tell their wives, knowing they would try to talk them out of it. Unfortunately, their efforts are plagued by a pair of teeny boppers named Gwen and Daisy, who want to work there as car hops and simply won't take "no" for an answer. This leads to the show's one highlight - a catchy burger joint jingle from the two girls. My pet peeves for the episode - the single-minded pests Daisy and Gwen suddenly doing a complete 180 later on, and Wilma and Betty doing something to their husbands which is utterly beneath contempt. Unless you are a person who just must see every episode, or like ones where Fred and Barney suffer a lot, I'd skip this one. Episodes like this one are the reason why I would never buy this series on DVD.

Not much clicked 'til the last minute

A real head scratcher. Every line, bit, and scene was a lead balloon until the last minute in The Rockadero restaurant. The writing was bizarre. Wilma and Betty's reaction to each unfolding situation made no sense. Thinking Daisy and Gwen were men after convincing by Fred. Showing no anger their husbands quit their jobs. Or they lost 50% of their (never mentioned) investment. The whole Daisy and Gwen bits fell flat. Good to hear Hal Smith. But, the stinker episode had no funny lines for the brilliant voice actor. The wives imitation of the waitresses singing and tiny Fred and Barney were the only funny bits of the episode.
