A showcase for Hal Smith
vitoscotti31 October 2022
Lots of funny bits throughout. Especially liked the baby elephant, vacuum cleaner, monkey jockey, and bus riders running in unison. Poor likable loser Fred (Alan Reed) you know will end up getting the short end of the stick. Mel Blanc does some very funny voices. The highlight of the episode is Hal Smith (Otis Campbell from "The Andy Griffith Show") voices quite a list of hilarious characters. A true treat hearing classic tv stars visit Bedrock. Fred couldn't possibly be stupid enough to hide his loot under a rock? I though it would be sad if he came back and somebody got there before him. A very strong funny episode.

A good but not overly funny episode of the show.

Enjoyable enough.

This is the worst Flintstones episode ever with a bad ending.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big fan of The Flintstones TV show, but out of all of the episodes I've seen this is by far the worst episode ever.

Fred and Barney have to come up with the money to buy the pool hall building, Fred lies to his wife and then sneaks out with Barney to bet their money at the dinosaurs race tracks. Fred and Barney win the money and then hide it under a rock and Fred tells Wilma the good news but as he and Barney goes to claim their money, a masked bank robber stalks them and gets into a fight and steals the money while Fred is injured. Barney tries to tell them the truth and Fred is miserable and the show ends in a cliffhanger.

What the heck were Hanna and Barbera and the story writers thinking? What about the bank robber who stole their money? Don't the police go looking for the robber? Doesn't Fred or Barney get revenge on the robber? Also did Fred finally get to buy the Pool Hall place after fighting the robber back for his stolen money?

I'm very disappointed with this episode I want a part 2 sequel where they have to hunt out the robber who was never caught in "At the Races" I would avoid this episode as a cartoon dud. I'm very sad about this episode as it was a wasted story. They should've made a part 2 sequel as this episode ended on a cliffhanger in the worst way possible. This episode and the other one "The Buffalo Convention" is very bad in a way that ends in a cliffhanger. Go watch the other 164 episodes as they are worth your time and have a better ending.
