Any episode featuring Alice ghostly is an exciting one for Designing Women fans and here, she lands as her fiance Richard Bull, best known for playing the nagged victim of "Little Mercantile on the Prairie". Of course, she's a bit confused and it turns out that Bull's character, equally missing the arterial flow above the neck, and he forgets he's proposed to women as soon as they've said yes.

It's another chance for Julia to rant against the press on certain assumptions about southerners, here one claiming that they eat dirt. It's a ridiculous story that most people like myself would simply bypass but one that stirs people like Julia up. I'm sure though that Julia (or Suzanne, who never puts hers on) would rather eat dirt than wear the dresses that Bernice brings them as potential bridesmaids.

I love how Bernice describes life in the retirement home as well as her lack of interest in sex as she prepares to be remarried. I also loved Julia's reaction to Anthony laughing at them in their dresses concerning his tux. This is a completely frivolous episode that avoids serious episodes. Even the dirt eating subplot isn't presented that seriously. Bull's very good as the quiet but introspective Ed, referring to Bernice as a little long on drywall but a little short on studs.
