- Theo gets a shirt that cost too much, so Denise makes him an "Exact" replica.
- Theo and Claire return from a shopping trip to buy a new shirt for Theo, who has a big night out with friends coming up that weekend and wants to impress his date. Theo has gotten something of a boost from the experience, having done the shopping in the store by himself and using his father's charge account while Claire waited outside. Theo is also excited about the shirt he bought; it's from a popular new designer named Gordon Gartrelle. Theo shows his father the shirt and points out some of it's finer features like the silk it's made from, the collar, hidden buttons and its front pocket. When Cliff asks how much the shirt cost, Theo evades the question with further admiration for the shirt. Cliff looks at the sales receipt and sees that it cost a steep $95. Cliff tells Theo he's going to return the shirt, prompting protest from his son. Cliff gives Theo a generous $30 for a different shirt but Theo is disappointed.
Up in his bedroom, Denise joins him and Theo tells her what happened. She reminds him that a $95 price tag is more for the brand than the actual value of the shirt and that the profit goes to paying for the designer's extravagant lifestyle. Theo tells her their father gave him $30 to buy a different shirt and Denise offers to make him a replica of the Gartrelle shirt for him. Thrilled, Theo gives her the money.
Denise finds that making a shirt is very difficult. When she asks her parents for more money to finish it, they give it to her. Cliff and Claire both realize that the situation will end in disaster because they know Denise's tailoring skills aren't up to the job. Meanwhile, Cliff is fighting off a severe cold that he tries to hide from Claire.
On the day she promised to give Theo the shirt, he explodes, complaining about how badly it's turned out: it's too big, the sleeves are uneven and of two different designs, the collar is crooked and it looks like it was assembled from a patchwork of fabric. Furious, Theo goes to his father in the kitchen and shows him the shirt. His father tries to stifle his laughter but tells Theo he's learned his lesson about expecting more than someone could promise him. Theo begs his father for the chance to go back to the store and get a new Gartrelle but his father, amidst Theo's panicky state, tells him he can find the original Gartrelle he'd bought in his father's room. When Theo asks him about it, Cliff laughingly tells him he never took the first one back knowing that something like this would happen.
Theo goes out the kitchen door to the living room and finds that his friends and his date have arrived. When they see in Denise's shirt they seem a bit shocked and Theo is very embarrassed. Cliff walks in and tries to cover for Theo, saying it's his shirt and that Theo can't wear it. Theo steps up and tells his date that it's his. His date is unexpectedly excited; to her it looks like another new, hot designer, Idgy Amorata. Theo is thrilled and confident, saying he'll go out anyway. When Claire tells him to put on a coat, Theo scoffs at the idea of covering up his new, stylish shirt. Claire then turns her attention to Cliff, who still refuses to admit he's sick.
