Warning: Spoilers
Malcolm Dunn suffered the loss of his wife to cancer, then his young daughter Laurie dies in a horrible way. There are things he can't explain, like the photograph he found in Laurie's computer taken the night she died in a fire at a fraternity house where she had gone to a party. The Cold Case team decide to take another look. They go to Laurie's friend Dirk, who might hold the key to the mystery surrounding the girl's death.

Dirk has kept coming to Laurie's father to comfort him, something Mr. Dunn can't explain, but he accepts the young man because he feels the boy never got over the tragedy. Eventually, Dirk begins to loosen up in telling what really went on during his initiation at the frat house. In fact, Laurie and her friend Deidre came to the party because the leader of this group wanted to humiliate them because they were overweight.

In putting the case together, the detectives find discrepancies in the different accounts from the witnesses as to the real cause of the fire, and why did everyone survive except Laurie. The evidence points out to how an evil mind was responsible for her death, which had been kept secret all the time because of the secrecy around the pledges the new members were asked to abide by.

Paris Barclay, a frequent contributor to the series directed Veena Sud's screenplay. Lindsay Hollister made an impression as the doomed Laurie, an intelligent girl that didn't deserve what she got. James Immekus is also good as Kirk. Pat Skipper plays a councilman who knew a lot of the shenanigans at the frat house. Nick Wechsler is seen as Manny.
