- Diane dreams that "Andy Andy" has escaped form a mental institution and is coming to kill her. But when she wakes from her nightmare, "Andy Andy" shows up at the bar to ask a favor.
- It was a dark and stormy night. These are the types of nightmares that Diane has been having since she found out that Andy 'Andy' Schroeder, the ex-con murderer who tried to strangle her once, has been released from the mental institution. Behind her back, Frasier has been counseling Andy just to make sure that Diane's fears are unfounded, which he assures her they are. Frasier suggests that she just talk to Andy to confront her fears. But she doesn't have a choice as Andy comes to the bar unannounced. In part, Andy has come to ask for Diane's forgiveness, which she reluctantly albeit not quite sincerely gives. But he also wants everyone's help. He has met a wonderful woman who knows nothing about his past, and he has made up a background that consists of everyone at Cheers. Sam agrees to go along with Andy's ruse, but Diane is not too sure she should trust him. They all do go along with it, however his stories revolve primarily around Andy owning the bar. They all, but especially Sam, takes a leap of faith that Andy is being genuine when he requests the bar's take for the evening for a trip. Has Andy returned to a life of a psychopathic maniac? And ultimately, what is going on in Diane's psyche?—Huggo
- Diane has been having trouble sleeping recently, and has awoken from a little nap in the Cheers office. Outside, a violent storm is heard. Sam sends Woody into the bar's wine cellar for some more drinks, but Woody doesn't return. One-by-one, the others go to check on him, but don't return either. Diane checks the newspaper and finds that Andy Schroeder has escaped from a mental institution, and her fears escalate as the power goes out in the bar, and Norm's scream is heard from the cellar. Sam claims that it's just everyone playing a trick on her, and tells her to go investigate. Diane takes Sam's word, and goes down into the cellar, where the candle she's carrying goes out. Suddenly, a match is struck and Diane sees Andy holding it-
-causing her to wake up screaming. Sam and Frasier quickly come into the room to console her. Frasier then explains that Diane is still reacting badly to the news that Andy was released from an institution a few weeks ago. He then goes on to shock Diane when he explains that due to her fears, he went looking for Andy to analyze his mental state. Frasier claims that Andy appears to be fine, and recommends that Diane meet with him to quell her fears. Diane is against this...until Andy walks right into the bar!
Andy has come to apologize to Diane, and also to ask the Cheers gang for help. Andy plans to leave town with a woman he's met, but wants the gang to help him seem like a respectable guy (as he's told her nothing of his past).
The group agrees to do so, but are sidelined when Andy makes himself out to be a sane person amid the 'problematic' gang at cheers, claiming he owns the bar, and has attempted to help everyone with their problems. Andy even takes all the money out of the bar's register, and leaves with his girlfriend.
Diane believes they've been scammed by Andy and is intent to call the Police, before Andy returns to thank the bar, and return the money he took. Needless to say, Diane feels ashamed, and watches as Sam heads for the Office.
Going after him, she apologizes that she was so judgemental about Andy. However, her shame soon turns to shock when Sam suddenly quotes several passages from Shakespeare, along with a few other witty bon mots. Sam even offers Diane tea, and plays a song he composed for her. Completely taken in by Sam, she embraces him passionately-
-only to awake from a dream. Apparently, everything from the stormy nightmare, Andy coming to the bar, and Sam behaving like a proper gentlemen were all a dream.
