Bidding on the Boys (#6.8)

Warning: Spoilers
Rebecca organizes a bachelor auction at the bar for a kid's charity. Sam gets himself into it and ends up being sold to Lilith for $2000. The reason she does it is because she is mad at Frasier for proposing prenuptial agreement. So Sam agrees with Frasier to come to motel to reconcile.

Well Frasier and Lilith are sure my favorites and just as always an episode with their story is absolutely awesome. I don't think Lilith would be so upset about prenuptial agreement, she is a successful and smart woman, but it is easy to overlook thanks to all then fun moments it brings. The whole auction is great, Woody being afraid of the woman tat got him was cute. Rebecca almost getting Sam was a fun way to tease us,but I am glad it didn't go this way. Lilith and Sam in the motel were too much fun.

The Auction
Hitchcoc26 August 2019
Cheers hosts an auction where young men are paraded and bid on for an evening with a woman. It is for a children's hospital. As it ends up, both Sam and Woody end up being bid on. Frasier and Lilith have had a huge argument and this leads to some really interesting events, to say the least. There is one question, relating to the woman who bids on Woody that all will wonder about.

You Better Be Good

Warning: Spoilers
"Bidding On The Boys" is about a charity bachelor auction at the bar, at least the first act is, and when it's focused on the auction the episode is great. When it moves to a hotel and Lilith's attempts to seduce Sam it completely derails and ruins everything that came before.

The wildly sexual Bebe Neuwirth- who does an amazing job playing the repressed, clenched Lilith Sternin- breaks character completely with sultry swaying and orgasmic gyrations... she's too damn hot for me to be angry with her but this was not a good idea for her character. The idea that Sam comes *this* close to banging his friend's future wife is not funny, just disturbing, and Sam has already emasculated Frasier by stealing Diane... let's leave Lilith off-limits to Sam.

Sharon Barr is great as the chain-smoking dragon lady who "purchases" Woody with the presumed intent of swallowing him whole. The first two-thirds of the episode are great but the last act turns into soft-core porn and stupefying love babble: "I knew you were following me, yin to my yang!" Let's just move on.

GRADE: C-
