This is when it pretty much falls apart...

Whichever way you put it, the Christy storyline is dragging the season. Maybe it wasn't handled properly, or should've been introduced earlier. I don't know. The thing that bothered me the most was how this, and everything involving the Billie character, is there to carry the burden of entertaining us or trying to, while the Charmed ones are searching for their own happy ending. Paige with Henry, obviously. Piper with defrosted Leo. And Phoebe with someone worthy, hopefully... So far, fillers were ok. Not the best, but had the job done. No real complaints about it, until episode 14 and that ridiculous part where Billie was « channeling » her sister and found her without breaking a nail. The Last Temptation of Christy is one I really enjoyed. Simon was a fun character, and gave the Paige and Henry relationship the push it needed, to take the next step. One of Piper's old lover came back, giving her as well a clearer view on things. And Phoebe, who was given a better storyline on the previous episode, was there to balance both, and Billie's as well.

Keep them coming!

Oh dear! Here's another instance of somebody charging in with a negative review without doing adequate research. "City of Windsor" roses, aka Rosa Korimach, were bred in Germany, by the Kordes nursery in the 1990s. The name has nothing to do with any geographical location in England. They are a beautiful flower, and could have been grown anywhere in England or (more likely) Scotland. The episode itself I felt was OK. The arrival of adult Christy was a shock - I think that could have been handled better - but overall it went right. I look forward to seeing how she blends in with the future storyline.

Hell is paved with good intentions

Warning: Spoilers
I am getting really annoyed with season 8 so far, and this episode caps it all. The pity is that it could have been so much better.

Now, I actually think it was a clever idea to skip Billie and Christy's long-awaited reunion, and to start right afterward. And obviously, growing up in the Underworld has to have left leave some marks on poor Christy, so we're all interested in what could happen. Especially if she's connected with the imminent Ultimate Battle. Moreover, having Piper and Paige defend their couples against potential other loves, was also an interesting idea since Piper is practically a widow and Paige is at a turning point of her love life, with the obvious quandaries that go with Henry's lack of magic.

But I'm afraid these are all the positive things I can find to say here. Seriously. Billie is a nice girl, but her résumé already remind me a bit too much of the OTHER perky, blonde, teenage demon-slayer. And now we learn that her newfound sister is "the Key" ?! Does anyone have a vampire to lend the show please ? .... Well, no vampire... but the annoying British guy is there all right. Or a very crude caricature of him. Really, he's just there so Henry can prove his manliness and affection before proposing to Paige -which is a nice scene, by the way, but one that is almost spoiled by the sheer stupidity of what comes before. Piper is a little better off, but who believed for one instant that Greg had a chance ? I couldn't even remember who he was ! Why not use Dan, who had been such a rival to Leo years ago ? As for Phoebe, she barely has a cameo in this episode, which just isn't right.

This leaves us with Billie and Christy. Nice opportunity here, and the fact that most of the key events occur off screen could have been an interesting choice ; except that, since the big crisis is solved in 30s, the "interesting choice" feels more like a very, very tight budget. Now, after watching the next episodes, I realise there is a logic there, but this doesn't really make up for what is missing.

This season is just rough

Been a fan of Charmed since it first began but this season was just rough. This episode which introduced Chrisy was a worse turning point for an already bumpy season. The actress is not good at all, the storyline is weak, and it really seems to take all its inspiration and story from another show (if you've seen this other show you know exactly which one). I still love this show and Henry is a major redeeming factor this season and particularly this episode, but this story just isn't good and is made worse by a poor actress.

Get a map.

Watched this episode on 4Music last night. Simon gave Paige a bouquet of red roses saying they were Windsor roses from East Sussex. No no no, Windsor is in Berkshire. Please use a proper map when mentioning places in Britain.
