Dead like Her
owlaurence15 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Once again it's all Paige's fault... and once again it's Piper who gets all the annoying side effects, what with being dead and even being Death. The main idea (cheating Death creates a backlog of undead souls waiting for their flight to Beyond) is great and leads to a lot of funny or emotional situations... even though this kind of situation has long since become the daily grind of the manor's inhabitants.

So Piper is back on the same Spirit Plane that she already knew from that unwilling trip there with Leo in The Courtship... and as the most pessimistic and sourly of the sisters, she's very convincing in her new temp job. And it is nice to see the Angel of Death again. First, he's a good character, very well-written because he isn't a bad guy at all, he even seem rather sad most of the time. And for all that he's neutral, hates unfinished business and dislikes being given lip, he obviously admires the Charmed Ones -enough to bend his own rules now, and again in Vaya Con Leos. But the second thing that makes him great is that he is an impossible opponent. The would-be demon is not a very big threat, but having to keep Death at bay is another matter entirely. So the plot offers several nice twists, with a truly moving scene between Piper and Paige.

Finally, agent Brody injects a real element of mystery into the mix, with his hidden goals and dubious methods. The character is way more interesting than poor Leslie, I have to say, and questioning his actions might yet bring Darryl back into the fold.

Piper becomes Death
Realrockerhalloween6 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Another decent episode as the charmed ones saved a man meant to die and disrupt the natural order of life. It was interesting to explore death's job as we only got a glimpse up this point on how he collects souls or how people are chosen. I find it sweet how Piper tries to comfort a man who just died not sure herself where he'll and up or what to expect as they walk in the portal. The only flaw is Piper can substitute another soul for one of her sisters as it hinges on death staying neutral and taking those when it's there time no playing favorites.

I also enjoy the side story with Kevin wanting to be a full pledged demon by killing each family member and gaining power. I love his m.o. makeup design and his anger at the witches for stopping him. I even find him intelligent as he consults a seer on where to find the last remaining one. Most go charging in relying on confidence instead of seeking out the out the future to avoid mistakes.

The One Where Piper Becomes The Angel Of Death...
taylorkingston6 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I really love this episode. I loved the character of the Angel Of Death, ever since I first saw him. I really liked the idea of a non-evil, neutral party.

This episode starts off with Piper and Paige about to save an innocent. They already know who the demon is and who his target is. It's different from nearly every other episode because usually, someone dies, they figure out who the demon is and then they vanquish him or her. But in this episode, they already know most of the facts. Paige casts a protection spell on the innocent, so when he is attacked by the demon, he doesn't die. The Angel Of Death pays a visit to the Halliwell's and he informs them that since this one man didn't die, is list is held up. Until he dies, no one can die. Which sounds really good, but without death, there can not be life. His words, not mine. So, the man, who now has a giant hole in his stomach from an energy ball goes to find his wife, after he sneaks away from the Manor. The demon who wants him dead makes a deal with Death. The innocent man dies and then death can continue to happen. Piper gets really furious with Death and Death turns her into, well, Death. Right there in the street, Piper collapses and she is confirmed dead by EMs. Her spirit can return to her body if she helps Death catch up on his list. Phoebe's name pops up on the list and Piper orders her to stay away from the demon. The demon I've been talking about is half demon, half human and he wants to get rid of his human side. He can only do so by killing all of his mortal relatives. The innocent was his cousin. The demon finds out that the innocent man's wife is pregnant, so he goes to kill her and her unborn child. Piper, aka, Death, shows up and then so does Phoebe and Paige, and they save the woman. I honestly can't remember if this happens before of after Phoebe's name goes on the list. I think it's before. Anyway, eventually, Paige goes to kill the demon, only to be killed herself. The names on the list changed. But Piper stops her from going into the light by making a deal with The Angel Of Death. She gives him the demon, who becomes full mortal. Eventually Paige doesn't die and Piper is restored to her body. Luckily, before the autopsy.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10.
