The One Where The Sisters Turn Into Beasts...
taylorkingston21 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is episode is sadly, one of my least favorites from the entire series. It's defiantly in my Bottom 3 episodes. But I still enjoy it, and I still watch it, but I just don't enjoy it as much as the rest of the series.

In this episode, a Blue Moon is rising in San Fransisco. And when the Blue Moon comes, it transforms Piper, Paige and Phoebe into beasts. I'd say a mix between a werewolf, a Wendigo and another vicious animal, one that I can't think of the name. Anyway, they wake up in their attic, after being transformed, having no memory, seeing their new whitelighter, yes, Leo got replaced, injured and bleeding on the floor. They eventually figure out what's happening and they keep themselves from hurting anyone else. They're just thankful that there won't be another Blue Moon anytime soon.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10.

Blue moon

Warning: Spoilers
During a blue moon the sisters are transformed into beasts that attack and maul innocents. It doesn't feel right for the witches to become the creatures they vanquish with the elders in shock it even happened and no explanation given on why it did. I wish it could've been werewolves they were facing instead since It fits the whole full moon legend and I can't see three old women in seventy years going wild like this and they never seen concerned other witches are capable of it.

Also I'm not a fan of Leo going crazy as the avatars desperately want them on their side yet the elders pick the worst time to exile and kill him making them turn their backs on the powers that be.

The episode would be more powerful of they used it for reflection on why they fight for the side of good since it's turned it's back on them. They have sacrificed, dedicated time and suffered lost because of the magical community. If anything they should've called the Angel of Destiny down to take his offer of a simple life instead of going through turmoil another day.

Only once, thankfully

Warning: Spoilers
There were lots of things going for that plot. The dialog is not bad, some of the jokes are even quite good (Paige still has problems with her orbing powers), the situation offers a very interesting parallel with Leo's, and it's nice to see other Whitelighters for a change (especially since those two are annoying, so you don't really feel sorry when they're attacked).

But there are several huge problems with the whole episode, mainly a) that interesting parallel ? nobody ever mentions it, b) the sisters don't look the least embarrassed at having mauled or potentially killed people, they even joke about it, and c) the only explanation we'll ever get concerning their transformation is "oh, it is a rare phenomenon, so it is bound to be terribly bad... but since it doesn't last, we'll talk about it next time". I was left blinking at that one, since that is totally NOT the sister's usual philosophy. And to crown it all, those beasts are the worst FX ever.
