Taking a Paige from history
owlaurence27 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I suppose we had this coming. It was nice of the scriptwriters to have kept it for the 100th episode, which gave it an added touch of significance. Now, Julian McMahon was the main reason why I kept watching the show 3, 4 episodes at a time. Great actor, very good looks, and a very interesting character. But in terms of plot and long-term progression, the series needed to move on. At that stage, Cole had successively been a half-demon, a human, the Hollow, the Source, dead, all-powerful, and in this episode, he finally became an Avatar, then Belthazor again. All these changes had kept the show hopping for a while, but they were becoming very repetitive, and it was now clear that Phoebe and him would never be reunited. So it was a good decision to finally say goodbye to him. And to find a way to kill him without resorting to some unexpected Super-Powerful weapon or suchlike. And to have Phoebe herself do it. And to show that their romance just wasn't meant to be. And to bring everybody together for the occasion, including the Seer, who had been a fascinating villain.

What really spoils this episode, though, is the major plot-holes in it. Paige suddenly feels left out for no reason, which seems to occur whenever her actions cannot be explained logically. So once again, we get an episode showing how essential she is to the family. Right. Convincing, even. Piper's transformation is quite plausible considering the state she was in after Prue's death. But the sneeze-thing is very disappointing. It is cleverly brought up, and Paige has always had trouble with her orbing powers, but the fact that her cold disappears right after Cole's spell screams "plot device". Talking about Cole, why on earth or in hell does he blame PAIGE for his divorce ?! Just because she annoyed him the night before ? For that matter why, after trying to kill himself for weeks, does he suddenly take exception ? Besides, if he wanted to save his marriage, he should rather have prevented Phoebe from killing the warlock in We're Off to See the Wizard -actually I can think of 10 better ideas than killing Paige. Anyway, as usual, despite him being the villain, he comes out as very touching. And who wouldn't laugh at his delight when he sees the pool table ?

So bye Cole. This time felt like farewell, no reprieve. The worst thing is that, while I still feel very indignant at the unfairness of his fate, I am actually quite relieved that he died while we could still sympathize with him a bit.

Centennial Charmed: Brad Kern Does What The Charmed Ones Couldn't---Kill Cole Once And For All
sookietex25 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
after watching "Centennial Charmed" for the umpteenth time {what can i say, i'm addicted to Julian McMahon :-)} it occurred to me there is a major plot flaw. if after vanquishing Cole in the alternate reality, and time is again altered, and Paige, Phoebe, Piper and Leo return to their previously known reality, alive, well and powers intact; why was the same not true for Cole? if time is being reversed to return The Charmed Ones and their white lighter to their previous states, why has Cole not been returned as well? if the writer's reasoning is because Cole was vanquished in the alternate reality, then why are the other demons who remained alive in that reality {the seer, et.al}, not brought forward to have to be vanquished again? i mean i get it, the producers/writers had decided to kill Cole, once and for all---but i couldn't help noticing that inconsistency. {happily, McMahon fans have nip/tuck, FF, meet market, etc.}

The 100th Episode...
taylorkingston6 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. It's one of my all-time favorites of the entire series and it's definitely in my Top 5 episodes. I love how evil Cole is, but at the same time, I miss him.

In this episode, Cole realizes that he'll never get Phoebe back in this world, so he joins the Avatars to give him the power to change time. He makes it so Piper and Phoebe never met Paige because she was killed. Cole now rules in the Halliwell Manor with Phoebe has his wife, even though she still doesn't love him. Leo and Piper broke up, and Piper isn't pregnant. Instead, she spends her days wearing leather outfits trying to find and vanquish Shax, for what he did to Prue. But somehow, Paige sneezed, which caused her to orb into the alternate reality. So she convinces Leo and Piper of the real world. They then must convince Phoebe. After they have, and Cole tries to kill Paige again, they vanquish him. They can do this because in this world he isn't indestructible. He is only Belthazar, and Belthazar can be killed. After they vanquish him, the world is returned to normal and Cole was successfully vanquished.

Fun Fact: This is the 100th episode.

Last appearance of: The Seer.

Best part of the episode: When Paige convinces her sisters and they vanquish Cole.

Worst part of the episode: The fact that Cole actually died.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Warning: Spoilers
Centennial charmed starts with Cole missing his ex-wife, but instead of spending the next one hundred years without her he accepts a bribe from the Avatars to turn back time and stop the charmed ones from reconstituting. Paige having a cold orbs out before the time ripe and ends up in an alternate universe where demons they vanquished still roam and innocence they saved are dead. While it was an interesting look at what could be the set up is weak since it wasn't Paige who broke them up, but the source being vanquished and being absorbed into his being. If he had really wanted to win Phoebe back he would know that she isn't evil and could never be happy without her family. Phoebe has affairs, smokes to calm her nerves and seems filled with rage every time they talk which should've made Cole realize sooner to try time travel once again instead of letting it play out making the character very stupid.

Another thing is the seer lives, should've been the oracle, talking about the source before switching to the baby prophesied get its never explained if they plan to take over the underworld or if it's so he can have his son and leaves you confused. Piper and Leo are divorced which feels realistic from the stress or riff caused by the interference of avenging Prue's death and trying to save Phoebe being to much to handle on top of everyday wiccian duties. Though Cole's death for the finale time feels like it lost it's poetic license it still was full of heartache for what they once had and the cgi skull was terrifying. While not my ideal way to end their relationship once and for all at least it ended on a bang before it became a dead horse.

Warning: Spoilers
This is not a review but I couldn't find a place for comments. This is one of my favorites so I have nothing to add, other than at the very end of this episode, Phoebe enters the manor with her very short, haircut. We don't see that again until the new owner of the paper shows up, I think. So obviously, this part was filmed way out of order. That's all.

mistakes

i liked this episode, but when Paige and Phoebe are speaking in the kitchen, after Paige has come to the alternate time. Phoebe has two earrings and then one, then two again, then one. I also thought that Paige should have still had a cold when she went to the alternate time since she wasn't affected by the change when she was sneezing. Other than that evil or not Cole is hot and will be missed. I think he was better looking when he was evil. I feel bad for him, I thought he was funny and kept this series interesting. Phoebe should have been the one to vanquish Cole not Paige. Oh, Paige needs a tan, and to stop wearing white and black neither look good on her.

An amazing episode

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode and I've watched it several times already. It was amazing how Piper and Phoebe were so different in their "other" life when Cole changed the past. I'm glad Paige was the main character in this episode. She really deserved it.

I was confused about why Paige didn't have a cold in the alternate world but she did when she came back to reality.

I also enjoyed how the sisters worked together in the end to vanquish Cole for real. I just kind of wished that they knew what they had done in reality.

again, i really loved this episode and hope to see it again soon.
