    Goof

When Bobby & Cindy tell their Dad they're doing the teeter totter record, Mr. Brady leaves to work in a blue convertible, but comes back home in the family's brown station wagon.

    GOING FOR THE GOLD.

I agree, a good episode and one that inspired lots of us kids to try to break some sort of record. At least give it a shot, right?

Writers Joel Kane and Jack Lloyd actually did their homework. The same year this episode was filmed, two men from Sacramento, CA broke a record for teeter-tottering at 216 hrs. They broke it again in 2021 by 10 minutes!

Accordingly, Bobby and Cindy set out to break the same record -- easier said than done. You actually feel sorry for them, because it's all tied to being snubbed. They weren't invited to a wedding, so they're going to make a name for themselves to be NOTICED. And watching this episode back in the day, it all kind of made sense. There were a lot of us kids who got the bum's rush.

Also some interesting bits where Bobby and Cindy manage to squeeze in some food and, yes, Alice joins the contest, subbing for the kids when they have to run to the bathroom. Popular character actors Vito Scotti and Dick Winslow (as the reporter) make separate appearances.

You have to admit, Scotti as a cooking show host is a hoot. Definitely a gag cameo.

Good direction by Russ Mayberry, who excelled at cop shows. He next went on to direct IRONSIDE.

Joel Kane is best known for writing dozens of classic episodes for DOBIE GILLIS.

SEASON 3 EPISODE 14 remastered Paramount dvd box set. Classic box cover for all us fans. Thanks to METV Plus for running this super series every morning.

Bobby And Cindy Go For A World Record

The two youngest kids feel left out so they try to set a record for teeter tottering.

A good episode for Bobby and Cindy, it is nice to see them teaming up on something. It seems they are not invited to Carol's cousin's wedding so they decide to show everybody they can be important. They also call the local newspaper. They eat sandwiches while on the teeter totter and Alice takes over for Cindy when she has to go to the bathroom.

    • Trivia
When Bobby and Cindy learn of the record, the television announcer states that the world record for teeter-tottering is 124 hours. However, there was no World Record at that time. According to Guiness World Records, in 2003 two women set out to set the teeter-tottering record and were told by GWR that there was no record, so to set one they would have to go for 24 hours. The two women decided to set the record so nobody would break it, and teeter-tottered for 75 hours and 10 minutes. That time still stands as the World Record.

    • Quotes

Marcia Brady: It's a wedding. It's the most romantic thing that can happen in a girl's life.

Greg Brady: What about the poor guy?

Jan Brady: Don't you want to get married?

Greg Brady: Sure, when I've got nothing else to live for.
