This episode deserves 15 stars! A delightful trip back to Samantha and Darren's courtship. Would he have proposed to her, had he known that she was a witch? In general, the show presents Samantha and Darren's relationship like a fantasy version of a mixed marriage. In this episode, Endora transports them back in time. The line in my heading is Endora's reaction to her daughter even dating a mortal, let alone marrying one. This is also one of Elizabeth Montgomery's best performances in the series. A look back to "what would have happened" gives Samantha the impression that Darren would have rejected her, if the truth had been revealed in the first place. When back in the present, Samantha is hurt, and she gets very emotional. She also got me emotional! The show never dealt with the degree to which a "witch" can have human emotions. Samantha certainly had human emotions. Overall, this is a superlative episode. All performances were great, but Elizabeth made everything extra special.
