Dick Sargent's first appearance as Darrin, replacing Dick York. At the beginning of this episode there is a tight shot of Elizabeth Montgomery and as the camera slowly pulls back it reveals Sargent as the "new" Darrin.
During the hiatus between the fifth and sixth seasons, ABC reran all of the Darrin-less episodes. It was hoped that this would help the audience accept Dick Sargent as the new "Darrin," despite Dick York still appearing in the reruns' opening credits.
After the Giant is restored he threatens to step on his wife and she screams. Her scream is lifted from King Kong (1933) and belongs to Fay Wray.
At the time this episode was aired on ABC, Johnny Whitaker, who played Jack in this episode, was still starring in his most famous role as Jody in Family Affair (1966) on CBS.
Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters appear as stuffed animals in Tabitha's bedroom when Jack, comes out of the book. Ricochet Rabbit & Droop-a-Long (1964) briefly appear, standing on the shelf behind Tabitha. Peter Potamus sits on a dresser while Jack tells his sad tale. Screen Gems was the production company for both Hanna-Barbera cartoons and Bewitched. The Ideal Toy company was the original sponsor of The Peter Potamus Show (1964) and presumably manufactured all of Tabitha's plush toys.
