"A Delightful Surprise!"

I give this episode, at which I've always laughed, a 10 purely For Scentimental Reasons (1949, thank you Pepe le Pew!) because in a recent Antenna rerun, after all these decades, the incantation Samantha invoked to freeze the restaurant guests came through Quite Clearly - "Lindor, Rhadamanthus ... Insecta!" (or "Invecta" as the shock of the 2nd word was immediately upon me) This is because, though from an54other source with slightly different spelling - no 1st "h" - I had called first 2 mountain,bikes & then, from a tradition of bestowing names no more than thrice (thus it is I've had only 3 cats I named Samantha!), the last time I invoked "Radamanthus" - found in, of all things, a book of witchcraft spells given to me during high school days!!! - was on the 1st of my 3 rescue hounds (of 6 dogs in 25 years). This mutt came along 8 years after the 2nd bike - both of 3 years, the 1st destroyed by a car & his replacement (along with a luxurious conversion van with some of the settlement money) - eventually had got stolen, & I decided that this starving Labrador/Rhodesian ridgeback mix, who had somehow not only passed by many other houses but came around to my back steps & had been *climbing up* when his strength gave out & I found him there the next morning, should be so named. And that big dumb red dog carried his grand unique name for the 13 (sigh) of his 14 years I was blessed with him. A year later I tripped over "Rhadamanthus" in a different book, so le internet quickly established that this is a fair & wise justice of the underworld in Greek mythology - which since that's long been a favorite of mine, was yet 1 more wonderfully shocking surprise! How came the spelling variant in the earlier book (sadly lost 2 years later in a house move), I ain't got a clue, but both searches return the same result; & the only other thing in that tome I remember is - really! - the "Spell To Ward Off Eagle Attack." Just the title, that is! Oddly I've never searched for that, but in all this time, now 22 years since that poor skinny fleabitten tick-covered injured dog looked like he'd come through 2 miles of bad woods (to misquote Foghorn Leghorn to the Dawg, & actually it turned out 6 weeks later was only half a mile!), I incredibly had not seen this episode - I cannot imagine that beloved name falling on these ears, off that job 12 years now but still sharpened by 30 years' (very) hard listening medical work, unnoticed! (The mysterious rarely-not-ending-in-"A" name of the exposed witch, Sarah Baker - with a last name too! - I hadn't forgotten in all this time.) I could sure wish I had, because of course I would've shouted the news from coast to coast that my dog's name was a star! I still can, though just with less delight for me & the other family/friends Bewitched fans, since they had loved Radamanthus near as much as his daddy; but that won't diminish the laughs from this episode - even now I hear Endora gasping "Samantha!" in shock when the spell was cast & everybody stopped moving - made now that much more uniquely special; in fact, it'll only add to the fun of it! Many people will or do have critters named Samantha, Serena (another 3x for me) or even Tabitha (not that "Ta-batha" spelling which rubbed my fur the wrong way on sight), who knows some pampered kittycat an adoring Wiccan belongs to might sometime even have been called Enchantra or Clara (please not Hagatha!), in honor of a show they love; but Ain't Nobody else except me put "R(h)adamanthus" - of whatever reference - to some 4-legged (or legless) companion of theirs. I hereby bequeath this Happy News to all who can appreciate it, & although I will never know it, can still hope that somewhere, sometime, whichever spelling, that as a result another Big Dog - hey, even a "beautiful horse" (as Colonel Potter said), since Radamanthus was not a dainty mutt! - will joyously carry on both his & this episode's loving/hilarious legacy. Samantha saying "Rada-man-thus!" exactly as I had 1st thought it was back in '77 (only when calling that hound with "MAN" emphasis), will now live in my heart ever after along with that blasted pooch whose bark scared even:*me* nearly out of sphincter control. Share the love, do like Gandalf (oddly a white cat of a friend I had named) said & "Pass it round!"

One paragraph plot summary : Darrin is searching for a role model for perfume poster. He already has three choices. But none of them perfect. Later, a girl comes to his office. He finds that girl is so perfect for the perfume advertisement board. So, he chooses her to be model. Unfortunately, Darrin is attracted to that girl. Samantha was told by her mother that Darrin was into her. Samantha disagrees. Then Darrin cancels the lunch date with Samantha. So, Endora wants to take Samantha to wherever Darrin is at, just to prove that her dearest husband Darrin is into some other girl. There, Samantha finds out that girl is actually a witch. Sam warns her to leave Darrin alone. But she doesn't listen. Later, Darrin and Larry Tate go to her apartment. That girl is trying to persuade Darrin to fall in love with her and kiss her. Sam stops her husband from everything. When everything falls apart, that witch becomes a little bit angry. Larry Tate wants to be with her too. But Sam doesn't let him to be. At the end, they both left the place.

Episode 11 is not entirely my taste. I hate to see married man having an affair or trying to be with some other woman rather than his own wife. This episode has exactly that. So, I don't like this one that much. That being said, I must admit that the acting of that actress who played as the model was quite good. I kind of hate her character very much. I even want to kill her when I saw she was trying to get Darrin to kiss her. On the other hand, I love to see Sam is jealous.

All in all, although this episode isn't my taste, and I don't like, it's kind of enjoyable. It's funny and I laughed in some scenes. So, I'd say it's still doing good.
