The Terrible Trio

Three young men who have been given everything (enormous trust funds) are looking for adventure. They decide to dress as animals and become master thieves. Of course they do. This episode is so cockeyed and silly, it is not up to the standards of this show. The three men have girlfriend. She is also spoiled and enjoys the thrills she gets from the trio. But their ability to get away with things so easily just doesn't work. Batman and Robin hunt them down and they really have no defenses, once the ammunition runs out. Crime, indeed, does not pay, and their arrogance doesn't do any good. A lesser production.

"Batman: The Animated Series" has its own misfires, but I don't think there's anything nice to say about 'The Terrible Trio'; an episode so lazy, from its writing to the animation. The guys behind the high-end burglaries are motivated purely by . . . boredom. Yeah. And there's no nuance to these guys; they're stock rick-kid villains. Remember Dan Aykroyd's moneyed pals in "Trading Places"? That's who's looting Gotham's top one-percent. Even the fistfight on a snowmobile is marred by shoddy animation.

It's bad.
