Two-Face recounts how he tried to get rid of Batman using a giant penny. When Poison Ivy asks him what became of it, he replies, "They actually let him keep it!" The giant penny can be seen later in the series in the Batcave, along with other "memorabilia". This is noticeable in some of the spin-offs as well.

Harvey Dent/Two-Face uses the two motif throughout the episode:

• Every time his hand is seen he has 2 deuces (twos) and two face cards (a pun on his name).
• He also has a four (2*2) card in one shot.
• He applies half-and-half cream to his coffee.
• His story is second in the anthology.
• He wields two .22 caliber handguns at the end.
• The Joker snubs Dent by saying he's seeing double and will always come in second.

Based on a four-part comic story that ran from September - December 1977 in "Batman" (Vol. 1) #291-294, titled 'Where Were You on the Night Batman Was Killed' by writer David Vern Reed and artist John Calnan. In each of the four issues, one villain (Catwoman, The Riddler, Lex Luthor, and The Joker) all recount their claims to have killed Batman.

The outfit that Poison Ivy wears for her story would later be used as part of her new look for the revamp series Las nuevas aventuras de Batman (1997).

Paul Dini had originally written that instead of using exploding pumpkins, Poison Ivy instead set Christmas trees on fire in protest to them being chopped for the holidays. According to Dini, on the commentary, Broadcasts Standards & Practices had him change it and he opted instead for Halloween pumpkins. Producer Bruce Timm thought the pumpkin idea worked out much better.
