The seventh season opener, "Homicide," concludes with Harris charming pretty police photographer Alex Kramer (Tricia O'Neil, second of two), while barber killer Henry St. Martin (Jack Dodson, last of four) inquires about getting prints of his handiwork! Harriet Shulton (Allyn Ann McLerie, second of two) reports that she hired a hit man (Michael Alaimo, second of three) to murder her husband David (Ben Piazza, second of three), who inquires of his wife, "who put the bee in your bonnet?" Jack Somack makes his sixth and final appearance as beloved liquor store owner Cotterman, who discovers who was responsible for trying to shake him down, but learns that the 12th precinct is now a homicide unit no longer permitted to help, despite their close proximity. Two hours later, Steven Haddad (Harold J. Stone, last of three) delivers the shocking news that Cotterman resorted to handling the hoods on his own, and wound up shot in the head, now a homicide victim that the 12th can handle. After Inspector Luger gets an earful from Captain Miller, the squad room returns to its usual position as neighborhood cops, ready for any emergency.
