  [before Ricky can finish his sentence, the railing to the bridge snaps off, and Ricky starts falling. Below, the water is rushing really fast] 

  Ricky Hagerty : Mike, HELP!

  Mike Buckley : [Mike grabs Ricky by his backpack, holding onto him]  Hold on Ricky, I've gotcha! Hold on!

  Ricky Hagerty : [Ricky starts slipping]  I... can't, Mike...

  Mike Buckley : Yes you CAN! YOU CAN!

  [Ricky's body slips through the arm-holes of his backpack and he falls towards the water] 

  Mike Buckley : NOOO! RICKY!

• Mike Buckley : [about Ricky]  Well, he was my friend... but he's dead. About five years from now.

  Nurse : Ricky... oh, I'm sorry, you're talking about that Haggarty boy.

• Mike Buckley : That's the thing, he's not really gone, I saw him today!

  Nurse : [shocked]  What?

  Mike Buckley : ...Uh, I mean... aw, I'm not feeling too well...

  Nurse : [giving him a concerned look]  ... I'm gonna let you go home early today. I think you don't feel well because of these nightmares and lack of sleep! You get some rest this weekend, and if you don't feel better by Monday, then you'd better have your parents call your family physician.

  [Mike peers through the blinds and sees Ricky watching him out the window] 

• Mike Buckley : This stinks... this really stinks, you know? Why'd you have to take me to see Dr. McBride, anyway?

  Leonard Buckley : Ooh, I don't know... maybe going into shock at the nurse's station and raving about seeing your DEAD best friend might've had something to do with it?

• Ben Buckley : So, what did dad's joke before mean?... Was it dirty?

  Mike Buckley : Naw, it was just too grown-up for you to understand, and besides, it wasn't that funny. I think your jokes are much better.
