In this episode, the bus stop is in front of what used to be The Grand Theater. In all previous episodes, the bus stop in by Walker's Drug Store.
The final role of Sir Lancelot (as Howard's friendly island landlord), best known for his 1940's Calypso-singing roles in 'I Walked With A Zombie' and 'Brute Force.'
Based on the look of the rock formation beside Howard's hut, the island scenes were shot at the Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. This spot along the upper L.A. coast was a convenient and popular location for film and TV productions. The palm trees and bushes were added by the prop department.
Howard's abandoning his life in Mayberry suggests that his relationship with Millie has ended. She will reappear that same year in the series "Mayberry R.F.D." as Millie Swanson/Summers.
In the episode's epilogue, Emmett, and then Andy, vie for who will buy soda pops for everybody, until Goober pipes up and says, "Nobody buys pop at my gas station but me." In the very next episode he will indeed become the new owner.
