The basic premise is similar to the spin-off episode of Make Room for Daddy called "Danny Meets Andy Griffith," which inspired The Andy Griffith Show (1960). Both stories involved the arrest of a speeder from out of town who refused to pay the fine and insulted Andy as the justice of the peace. The woman speeder stubbornly insists on fighting Andy's judgments and ends up being jailed, exactly like Danny Thomas did in the spin-off pilot. Ironically, the woman speeder is played by Jean Hagen, who played Danny Thomas' wife in the first three seasons of Make Room for Daddy.
Elizabeth Crowley, the speeder, said Barney reminded her of Frank Sinatra. Don Knotts did impersonations of Frank at various times.
The map behind Andy's desk is a map of Tennessee.
