Not only does Chester Jones show up in two places at once in this story, but he can also be seen as both one of the town loafers in one scene and a member of the city council in another.
At the end of the episode, true to the technique of shooting out of sequence for the sake of economy and convenience, all of the townspeople arrested by Barney at the beginning of the episode miraculously return days later, in the same clothes, to jail themselves.
Chester Jones appears to be in two places at the same time: first, when Andy visits Jud and Chester playing a game of checkers to inform them that he is firing Barney and second, in the next scene, when Andy stops in at Floyd's Barber Shop with the same news. Chester Jones, standing in the group, seems to be hearing the news for the first time.
In close-up in the last scene, Aunt Bee grabs jail bars next to each other, but when the scene changes to a wide-shot, she's holding bars that are three bars apart.
Each of the four calendars that appear on the walls at the jail and barber shop are turned to different months in an effort to mask the year and name of the month. At the jail, the calendar behind Andy's desk is folded up and taped over to cover the month's name. It displays the first day of that unidentified 31-day month on a Thursday with the last day falling on a Saturday, but the calendar on the far wall in the jail cell, just a bit out of focus, is a 30-day month that appears to begin on a Sunday and ends on a Monday. At the barber shop, the small calendar with a white background located behind the barber's chair shows a 31-day month that begins on a Friday. However, the larger calendar with a black background page located along the customer waiting area has been cut and pasted over where the year and month should appear. On this calendar, the first week is trimmed off so that the month begins on a Sunday, but is dated as the fourth day of the month. The first three days are eliminated, with the 31st appearing on a Sunday.
When Jud is playing checkers, Andy starts a sentence with "Yeah, you..." and after an edit he starts the same sentence again.
The chamber sound effect used in Hilda Mae's flashback stays on even after the scene reverts back to Andy's car, echoing Hilda Mae and the beginning of Andy's next lines.
