"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" The Baby Sitter (TV Episode 1956) Poster

Alfred Hitchcock: Self - Host

Quotes

  • [last lines]

Himself - Host : [sounds of a baby crying inside the pram; Hitchcock looks at it holding the mallet]  And now, I suppose you babies who have just put the sitter to bed are wondering about Mr. Nash. He escaped in his automobile, but not for long. He was soon arrested for failing to yield the right of way. Well, he wasn't exactly arrested. You see, it was a train that he failed to yield to. And now, children, if you aren't naughty and if the rabbit doesn't get drunk drinking too much carrot tea and fall on the elephant's trunk, next week I'll tell you another story. Good night.

  • [introduction - Hitchcock is sitting on a park bench with a baby carriage beside him]

Himself - Host : Good evening. Tonight's story is called "The Baby Sitter". You know, I don't think taking care of a baby is any great chore at all, if you're properly prepared. I bring my comforts with me - a portable radio, a few books, a hot lunch, a cold drink, a heavy mallet and, if that fails, earplugs.

    [looks in the carriage]

Himself - Host : Good heavens! I forgot the baby. Stay right where you are. I'll be back.

[gets up from the bench as we go to commercial]
