James is bored with his life and his marriage. So early in the episode, he tells his wife and then leaves...though she is clear in telling him she refuses to grant him a divorce*.
Some time later, James visits a lawyer and tells him he wants a divorce. But since she won't agree to it, the only suggestion the lawyer has is to catch his wife with another man..at which point he would have grounds for the divorce. Unfortunately, the wife seems to be having a great life...and James has trouble accepting this.
This is an unusual episode as there's no murder nor any crimes at all in this one....just an interesting character study about a bored middle-aged man who winds up getting what he asked for...though now he isn't sure that he even wants it! In addition, it has a very funny twist...making it a very memorable episode.
*Back in the day, you could not just get divorced if you wanted to and both parties usually had to agree to it. This explains Jim's dilemma.

No murder and very little mayhem. This was more along the lines of a character study about why people are often more attracted to those who are not attracted to us or play hard-to-get. Mostly well done with a twist at the end that surprised me as I expected a different twist. It is nice to be surprised as I find I most often figure out the ending twist.

James Howgill is bored with his life and his marriage and announces to his wife that he is leaving her. She tells him to do what he likes but that she will never grant him a divorce. In time, he takes up with an attractive young woman and decides to try to force the divorce issue with his wife. His lawyer however informs him that he has no grounds for a divorce and suggests that he hire a private detective to see if his wife may have taken up with another man. He agrees but is quite sure that it is not in his wife's character to carry on, but he is astounded to learn that she's dating someone, who spent the night in their house. Seeing his wife in a new light, Howgill decides he wants her back.
A pleasant light entry with no murder or tragedies; it's a more of a character study about a guy who wants a challenge, hence he becomes interested in his wife again when he thinks she's up to no good.

This is the tale of a man who has become bored with his marriage. He has a beautiful wife, a wonderful house, and has dropped into a routine. So he leaves her but has no grounds for divorce, so he hopes to trap her. The star is a little guy with glasses who is a private detective. But things ain't always what they seem. Lightweight comedy with few laughs.
