Season Four ended on a poor note, unfortunately, with perhaps the dumbest episode of the season.
The U.S. Navy is going to bomb a remote island in the Pacific and Clark, Lois and Jimmy are sent to take pictures of the before-and-after affects of the shelling. However, when they get to the supposedly-deserted island, they find "pirates" and captives. It's never really explained if the pirates have some distant legitimacy to them or are just plain wacky people, probably the latter. Anyway, two of their captives are thieves who plan to steal the small airplane Kent and crew few in on. While everyone is being held captive, Clark must somehow change into Superman, try to stop the Navy from bombing the island, and keep everyone safe. I'm making it sound better than it really was, because most of it was really stupid.
Now I just have to wait until the last DVD set comes out with seasons five and six. Note: there are three fairly interesting 5-8-minute features on this Seasons 3-4 set pertaining to the importance of making these color episodes. These were photographed in color but not shown in color in 1965, almost 10 years after they were made! Now that's what I call foresight. The people who made these shows helped keep the re-runs alive for decades because of this decision.
