Move over Tony Soprano — there’s a new crime boss in town, and she’s wearing heels.

Poorna Jagannathan is shaking up the crime-comedy genre in Hulu’s newest series Deli Boys, where she stars as the fierce and unforgettable Lucky Auntie — a role she calls “a mix of Tony Soprano and The Real Housewives of Orange County.”

Originally written for a man, Lucky Auntie was reimagined as a woman thanks to a bit of Hollywood inspiration. At Deadline’s Contenders TV event, Poorna revealed that creator Abdullah Saeed changed course after attending a talk by Geena Davis.

Poorna Jagannathan plays crime boss Lucky Auntie in the Hulu comedy series Deli Boys — a mix of Tony Soprano and The Real Housewives of Orange County, as Jagannathan describes her — a role that typically is written for a male to portray.

At Deadline’s Contenders TV event on Sunday afternoon, she revealed that series creator Abdullah Saeed had written her character as a male but was encouraged to go in a different direction thanks to some encouragement from Geena Davis.

“Lucky Auntie was written as a guy, as was another character called Agent Mercer,” shared Jagannathan. “Abdullah, the writer, went to a Geena Davis talk, and she basically was like, ‘Look at your script — if you could turn two men into women and it works, do it.’ So that night, he went back, and it became Lucky Auntie instead of Lucky Uncle, and Agent Mercer became a woman as well.

The Traitors 4 cast won’t be revealed for a while, but it’s never too early to start thinking about it.

A third season of the hit reality competition show recently ended, with Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, and Dolores Catania splitting the prize pool this past season.

Trishelle Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello from The Challenge stole the money from everyone on The Traitors 2.

Even before Season 3 ended in March, rumors began about who would be on the show next time.

As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, Amanda Kimmel from Survivor, Kenya Moore from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Nick Viall from The Bachelor were linked to The Traitors 4.

Although Bravo fans think the interior designer would be great on the Bravo show, Haack doesn’t think she would make good TV.

On her podcast with Teddi Mellencamp called Two Ts in a Pod, Judge shared who she thinks a show needs to bring back. Not her own show but instead The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which Mellencamp was previously on. In a new episode, Judge shared her opinion on the show.

According to Judge, she thinks the show needs a major change and that change should be Lisa Rinna. Rinna joined the series in 2014 and was part of the series up until 2022 when she left. Garcelle Beauvais is leaving The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to focus on her family and other projects.

The producer and actress spent five seasons on Bravo’s reality series and announced her exit in a social media post ahead of the Season 14 finale.

Beauvais’ Instagram post received an outpouring of messages from her Rhobh co-stars and the Bravo world at large.

Sutton Stracke, Beauvais’ closest friend on the show said, “Congratulations to your next chapter. Can’t wait to see what’s up your sleeve. Nothing but greatness. This I know.”

Andy Cohen, an executive producer on Rhobh, said, “An incredible run from an incredible human. Bravo.”

Bravo has a new reality dating series hitting the network next month with some familiar faces attached including Real Housewives stars Shannon Storms Beador (The Real Housewives of Orange County), Gizelle Bryant (The Real Housewives of Potomac), Ashley Darby (The Real Housewives of Potomac) and Luann de Lesseps (The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Rhony Legacy).

The eight episode series will see the women in Los Cabos, Mexico, “come together for the ultimate lavish getaway in the hopes of finding true love.”

“The women will decide who will check in and who will check out, and that is done with the coveted key to the Love Hotel,” reads the logline. “At the end of their time in paradise, the women must decide if they want to check out of the Love Hotel coupled up or check out solo, the way they arrived.”

There’s so much great TV out there, and most isn’t derived from legacy franchises.

Prime Video didn’t seem to get the memo because it continues to bring these excellent properties back to screens without the thrill of their predecessor.

The latest effort, Cruel Intentions, based on the hit movie of the same name, premiered in November 2024 and was pretty much ignored.

The 2024 version of Cruel Intentions was a below-average teen drama at best, playing out more like Max’s canceled Gossip Girl reboot, which had some redeeming qualities at the very least.

The 1999 Cruel Intentions had a compelling plot and a cast that included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair.

As the lame follow-up movies can attest, you can’t reinvent the wheel without the cast that made it such a success in the first place.
