Stars: Bill Moseley, Bill Oberst Jr., Jake Red, Kyle Anderson, Cody Renee Cameron, Arthur Marroquin, KateLynn E. Newberry, Danni Spring, Victoria Esther Castillo, Jake Lamarca, Nick Pirrmann, Stanley Sarnowski, Mark Sikes | Written by J.S. Brinkley | Directed by Jeff Broadstreet
Written by J.S. Brinkley, based on a story by Donald Borza II and directed by Jeff Broadstreet (Night of the Living Dead 3D), Devil’s Junction: Handy Dandy’s Revenge (also known as just Handy Dandy) is a horror movie about a TV studio that is haunted by a ventriloquist from a 60s kids television program. It’s a basic premise at it’s simplest level, but one that immediately made my B-movie horror loving ears prick up in the air and take note. A promise of muderous dummies? I mean, as a huge fan of killer doll and toy films like Puppet Master, Dolls and Demonic Toys, I was there.

Shock makes a kind-of case for the much hated 2006 “re-imagining” Night Of The Living Dead 3D. Let’s get this straight before we proceed: I do not endorse or support the craven, opportunistic mechanisms behind the existence of 2006’s Night Of The Living Dead 3D. I’m very close with George A. Romero and friendly with…

Because we were obviously in desperate need of a new "Blob" movie, cinematic auteur Simon West ("Con Air," "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider") has signed on to helm yet another remake of the 1958 drive-in classic, which was previously remade in 1988 by director Chuck Russell. Kevin Dillon starring vehicles were all the rage back then, obvs. Did we ask for this? I don't know, I think I'm good honestly. But since it's happening and there's pretty much nothing we can do about it, take a trip back with me as I revisit a few more horror films Hollywood just couldn't keep their hands off of - and judge which of the versions is the best. "King Kong" The 1933 classic was first remade in 1976 with Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges, who starred opposite the robotic ape from the Universal Studios tram ride. Nearly 30 years later Peter Jackson decided to remake it as an epic three-hour film,...

Because one 3D remake was not enough, George Romero‘s 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead will be resurrected once more, this time by director Zebediah de Soto as Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. As you might have briefly registered somewhere in your mind, there was a 3D Night of the Living Dead remake in 2006, as well as a follow-up called Night of the Living Dead 3D: Reanimation. To put it bluntly, they were not great. De Soto has the power of time and quality on his side, though. He has a solid cast, consisting of Bollywood star R. Madhavan, and a slew of B-movie horror favorites, like Tom Sizemore, Tony Todd (who was actually in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake), Danielle Harris, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Bill Mosley, Sarah Habel and Joseph Pilato battling the zombies. And when I say time, I mean that we are now in the hey-day of zombie-themed programming. Romero...

As zombies continue to reign on the big screens, George A. Romero's classic 1985 film "Day of the Dead" is being brought back to life once more. "Texas Chainsaw 3D" producers Lati Grobman and Christina Campbell are teaming with Millennium Films and Taurus Entertainment for a second try after the film was revived back in 2008. Campbell Grobman Films is currently holding meetings with screenwriters about the best method of adapting the 1985 original about military personnel and scientists hiding from the zombies in a bunker.
"Contrary to other recent zombie remakes, our Day of the Dead will honor Romero's original vision by reviving the slow, brooding zombie that terrorized so many of our childhoods," Grobman told Deadline. "The trend of the fast, agile, 'sprinting' zombie creates a lot of great jump-out-of-your-seat moments, but it doesn't compare to the psychological fear and tension that builds when going up against Romero's original undead army.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has an exclusive first look at the official trailer for Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead, an Anchor Bay release coming February 12th.
In the film, a group of horror fans find themselves unwilling participants in a living nightmare that pays homage to a classic horror film. Seven complete strangers whose only common link is a love for classic era horror films are invited to attend an exclusive “horror fan” party at a remote farm.
Sid Haig and Courtney Gains star. This is Sid's second film to carry the "Night of the Living Dead" moniker behind Night of the Living Dead 3D.
In the director's seat is Doug Schulze, who also helmed Dark Fields in 2009 and Hellmaster. And, according to the IMDb, Schulze is in post-production on Mimesis 2. So there's that. The sequel finds kids playing a role playing game that has them living out Nosferatu.

We’re back with a new edition of the Indie Spotlight. Today’s feature covers the latest independent horror news sent our way, including a violent vampire tale, the birth of a new slasher, and much more:
The Ecstasy of Isabel Mann: “….the story of troubled teenager Isabel Mann (Ellen Mullen) who is seduced into an incredibly violent sect of day-walking vampires. Her class mates start to go missing and on the trail of the gruesome murders are two detectives; Witham (Neill Fleming) – who believes her to be the prime suspect and Barrett (Matthew Toman) – who has his doubts. Nothing is quite as it seems for those about her as the disturbed teenager runs amok killing at will in the woodlands by her home; aided by her vampire guides Mirjana (Mirjana Rendulic) and Alejo (Karim Elgendy) who are training her in the art of the kill – with horrifically bloody results for those closest to her.

Night Of The Living Dead 3D: Re-animation
Stars: Andrew Divoff, Jeffrey Combs, Sarah Lieving, Robin Sydney, Adam Chambers, Melissa Jo Bailey | Written and Directed by Jeff Broadstreet
A prequel to director Jeff Broadstreet’s 2006 3D “remake” of Night of the Living Dead, Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation (that’s one hell of a long title) follows mortician Gerald Tovar, Jr. (Divoff) who inherits the family mortuary and exposes hundreds of uncremated bodies to toxic medical waste – at first accidentally and then later on purpose. As the corpses re-animate, Gerald’s inheritance-seeking younger brother, Harold (Jeffrey Combs), unexpectedly shows up and stumbles upon Gerald trying to keep the zombie outbreak under control. Sibling rivalry gives way to madness as Harold discovers Gerald’s dark secret – the freshly exhumed and zombified corpse of their father.

3D has long been a viable tool in the filmmaker’s arsenal. Sure, it’s not a particularly awesome tool, but it can be a fun tool. My first theatrical experience was a neat showing of Night of the Living Dead 3D. I later really appreciated the in your face fun of My Bloody Valentine 3D. I mean, if you’re going to do something, you might as well do it, right? Plenty of people hate 3D and await its demise. I have never been one of them, but I’m slowly leaning their direction. I’ve previously said that one key to 3D remaining viable is to ditch the gigantic, heavy glasses – that’s still imperative. I hate those things. But really, I think 3D has to get more aggressive and in your face to justify the film being in 3D. I can’t get behind the sentiment that the 3D in Prometheus was good or...

A sequel to Tobe Hooper's 2004 'Toolbox Murders' is currently shooting in La. Dean C. Jones, who acted as second unit director on the first installment, is taking the helm for the follow-up which will see Christopher Doyle reprise his role. The film, in fact based on the 1978 Dennis Donnelly movie 'The Toolbox Murders', is also set to star the gorgeous actress and model Chauntal Lewis (below), Brian Krause, Ethan Phillips and the legendary Lance Henriksen. Jones is probably better known for his makeup FX work on a whole host of movies such as 'Night of the Living Dead 3D', 'Fast and Furious' and the upcoming Disney sequel 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'. The follow-up was announced a couple of years and you can check out the original plot below....

“Primevil”, not to be confused with a number of other recent similarly titled creature features, was originally released as “The Lost Tribe”, and was presumably renamed to suggest less anthropology and more horror. Though depressingly generic, the new title is actually kind of fitting, being the original working moniker for “Predator”, a film which director Roel Reiné quite openly attempts to ape, along with various others such as “The Descent”. Reiné has a reasonable career in direct to DVD schlock, having helmed sequels “Scorpion King: Rise Of the Dead”, “Death Race 2” and “The Marine 2”, though this time at least has the backing of a high profile producer in Irvin Kershner (“Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”). Boasting a slightly higher than average budget for this kind of affair, the film also features a decent cast including Brianna Brown (also in the underrated backwoods chiller “Timber Falls...

While the 1968 George A. Romero classic Night of the Living Dead is one of horror’s most influential films, it’s also a public domain title, and as such, has been subject of plenty of remakes. A few years ago, there was 3D “remake” with Sig Haig, and was universally panned.
Well, What’s Playing is saying it’s getting a sequel that will star Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster) called Night of the Living Dead 3D: Resurrection. The plot will have Divoff in Haig’s role of the pyrophobic mortician, Gerald Tovar, Jr. inherits the family mortuary and accidentally lets hundreds of un-cremated bodies become exposed to toxic medical waste. As the corpses re-animate, Harold Tovar, the mortician’s inheritance-seeking younger brother expectantly shows up, stumbling upon a full outbreak of the walking dead.
I don’t know, thoughts?...

Remember back in 2006 there was a 3D remake of Night of the Living Dead called Night of the Living Dead 3D starring the great Sid Haig? Yeah. I know. Some of you would rather forget it, but either way we're getting a sequel.
According to What's Playing Dimensional Dead Productions have tapped Andrew Divoff ("Lost", Wishmaster) as the lead in their prequel/sequel, Night of the Living Dead 3D: Resurrection.
In this upcoming 3D flick, pyrophobic mortician, Gerald Tovar (now played by Divoff instead of Haig), Jr. inherits the family mortuary and accidentally lets hundreds of uncremated bodies become exposed to toxic medical waste. As the corpses re-animate, Harold Tovar, the mortician’s inheritance-seeking younger brother expectantly shows up, stumbling upon a full outbreak of the walking dead.
Brace yourselves.

There are people who believe zombies should only walk. And there are people who believe they can run around like steroid-injecting track stars. Then, there’s Frank Darabont, executive producer of the new AMC zombie show The Walking Dead, who believes both aforementioned groups are full of hooey. “Well, it depends on the zombie’s mood,” says the Shawshank Redemption director. “If they’ve recently fed, they’re a little less interested, a little more shutdown. Other times, they’re riled to a predatory state and can get a little faster.” So, they’re mostly walking — but sometimes they jog...

Director Zebediah de Soto answers the question every idiot asks: why?
In the first part of our interview with Night of the Living Dead: Origins director Zebediah de Soto, he shared why he decided to take on a 3-D animated, re-envisioning of George A. Romero's classic. We were curious, given the number of remakes already on record, what would audiences expect from Night of the Living Dead: Origins? We were pleasantly surprised by De Soto's answers.
Haz: Where did the title, “Origins” come from?
Zebediah de Soto: You know, that is a really fucked up story that I’m not even going to answer. How dare you sir! This interview is over!
Haz: Wll it be better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
de Soto: You know what! That was a fucking work of art! How dare you?! That is our generation’s Citizen Kane. [laughs] Actually, we were just...

Always wondered what Night of the Living Dead would look like animated? Check out Night of the Living Dead Origins! But first, here's Night of the Living Dead Reanimated!
Lost in the Comic-Con kerfuffle is the latest version of Night of the Living Dead. Created by nearly 150 contributing artists, Night of the Living Dead Reanimated uses everything from hand-puppetry to 8-bit animation to plain old classic had-drawn animation to bring George Romero's classic to life. It may be another remake, but it won't the insult of Night of the Living Dead 3D.
The movie is coming to DVD on July 27, so a screening was set up at the convention last night in room 5Ab. The DVD has a shit ton of extras, including features, commentary by Jonathan Maberry, extended scenes and more.
It's not as new and exciting as The Walking Dead, but worth checking out. They can always...

Zombies? Comedy? Alan Tudyk? Ok!
Alan Tudyk, known to many for his portrayal of Wash in the TV series Firefly and the post-cancellation movie Serenity is about to enjoy some more horror comedy. Tudyk was last seen in the horror comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil - at least, if you caught it at Sundance or other film festivals - and will continue this trend with First Platoon, a zombie comedy with Tudyk playing "Rock Brannigan," leader a group of zombie hunters in the apocalyptic southwest.
Joining Tudyk are Arron Shiver (The Book of Eli) as "Pete Davis" and newcomer Jennifer Skyler as "Molly Mcguire" with Malcolm McDowell (Clockwork Orange) as "Rex Necro," Sid Haig (Night of the Living Dead 3D) as "Pa Jericho," and John Kassir as "Burke." Skyler, Shiver and Tudyk will undergo military training from Capt. Dale Dye (military consultant on Band of Brothers), which seems a little extreme for a zombie comedy,...

It’s kind of sad that George A. Romero’s untouchable 1968 masterpiece “Night of the Living Dead” has fallen into the public domain. Of course, the situation is ideal for those looking to shamelessly capitalize on the movie’s legancy, but the rest of us are left to suffer the artistically barren cinematic offspring of this opportunistic approach to horror filmmaking. Such is the case of Jeff Broadstreet’s dodgy 2006 reimagining “Night of the Living Dead 3D”, a film that boldly attempts to combine two of Hollywood’s latest trends: three-dimensional technology and remakes. In the history of outrageously bad ideas, this should at least receive an honorable mention. I’ll fill out the paperwork tomorrow if need be. Using Romero’s classic a framework for this supposed tribute to the original film, Broadstreet shamelessly regurgitates a painfully generic zombie scenario that never once deviants from form. Here’s the...

Writer-director Zebediah De Soto isn't the first person to remake Night of the Living Dead, he's just the latest. When George Romero created his zombie classic in 1968, copyright indications were left off of prints, putting the movie into public domain, which is why the movie has been subject to so many revisions and remakes.
Make-up effects guru Tom Savini remade the movie in color in 1990. A low-budget 3-D version was made in 2006, and now De Soto wants to make a CGI-heavy Night of the Living Dead, again in 3-D, that he describes as an "American-style anime." De Soto tried to settle the fears of zombie fans concerned with yet another remake in an interview with ShockTillYouDrop, explaining that his "expansion" of the original will not destroy what Romero originally created.
I know so many people get pissed off about this movie being redone again, but it's not the same regurgitated bulls**t.

On the heels of the announcement earlier this week that a 3D Night of the Living Dead remake is in the works (read that story here) comes news that the original Notld has been restored, colorized, and converted, frame by frame, into full 3D and will premiere at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 3, 2009, as a part of the 5th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute.
San Diego-based 3D producer PassmoreLab is behind the process, which took over 12 months to complete at a cost greater than the film's original production budget and was no small feat. "I am a huge fan of this movie, and so it had to be done with complete precision," said Greg Passmore, president of PassmoreLab. Three years ago, we were subjected to an atrocity that gave us a new spin and a white Ben in Jeff Broadstreet's Night of the Living Dead 3-D. With public domain rights, any Joe Shmoe can make his or her version of the classic 1968 George Romero film. That last statement is once again proven with the news of another 3-D version of the undead film. Directed by the unknown Zebediah de Soto and written by When A Stranger Calls remake director Simon West, this remake will be titled Night of the Living Dead: Origins. Sounds like a prequel doesn't it? Well, it kind of is and here is what I mean: From The Hollywood Reporter website: "On the story front, De Soto, who wrote the script with David R. Schwartz, wants to update the tale partially by bringing out the characters’ backstories and make what he called 'an American-style anime.
