Subhash K Jha revisits Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq, which was released 18 years ago!

To be able to direct a film starring, hold your breath, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, etc etc for a sophomore director must have seemed like an ache-walk.

Recalls Nikhil, “It was a cakewalk. Every actor went out of the way to accommodate my film. Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra were there for me, and they were not only in their segment. Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has found new creative territory as antagonist Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again,” marking a calculated departure from his traditional leading man roles.

The pic marks the fifth entry in Shetty’s popular cop universe. The franchise – initially based on Hari’s 2010 Tamil-language “Singam,” starring Suriya – kicked off with “Singham” (2011) and “Singham Returns” (2014), both centering on Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn), a straight-arrow Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dcp) from the Goa-Maharashtra border town of Shivgarh. “Simmba” (2018) shifted focus to Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh), a corrupt inspector from Singham’s hometown. Kushal Punjabi, a popular Bollywood actor, has died by suicide. He was 42.

Punjabi was found at his Bandra, Mumbai home in India early Friday morning where a suicide note was recovered, according to The Times of India.

The actor was reportedly found dead by his parents around 2 a.m. Friday, according to Indian news channel Abp Live.

“His parents reached his building after he did not pick up their calls,” Vijay Lakshmi Hiremath, a senior police inspector for the Bandra police station, told the news outlet.

Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani is all set to return with his "Batla House" star John Abraham in the period sports drama "1911". He revealed that shooting for the forthcoming film will begin at the end of next year.

"'1911' is based on a true story. It is about a football match that took place between the Mohun Bagan Club of India and the East Yorkshire Regiment in the year 1911. It's one of the most important events that ignited the freedom movement in India," said Nikkhil, adding: "It's a script that John Abraham and his team have been working on for the last five years. Registrations are now open for the 2013 edition of India Film Project. To be held from September 20-28, India Film Project is a platform for amateurs and professional filmmakers to take a challenge and make a film in duration of only 48 hours.

At the beginning of 48 hours, Friday, September 20, 8pm, a common theme and genre will be given to participating teams. These teams shall script, shoot, edit and submit the film by Sunday, September 22, 8pm. Mumbai, Dec 26: Singer Adnan Sami, who became famous for non-film songs like "Bheegi bheegi raaton mein" and "Kabhi to nazar milao", will be back with another album next year.

"I am very excited because first half of January, 2013 my new album will release titled 'Press Play'. I am currently busy with it and it is almost ready," the 39-year-old said here in an interview.

Sami, who has also sung songs like "Salaam-e-Ishq" and "Noor-e-Khuda" for films, returns to the playback zone.

It's finally in place. Kangna Ranaut and not Vidya Balan will be playing gangster Manya Surve's girl in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala. There was plenty of back-and-forth over the matter. It was recently announced that John Abraham will play the role of the dreaded gangster Manya Surve in the sequel to Shootout At Lokhandwala, and director of the film Sanjay Gupta wants Vidya Balan to star opposite the actor.

Speaking to the media Sanjay Gupta said, “I’m going to make sure that Vidya acts in the movie. I will beg, borrow, steal and threaten to rope her in. I only have her in mind to play the character. And Vidya is a good friend of mine, and she also has a longstanding promise that she’ll work on my next project.”
