The Second Half
boblipton26 May 2022
The copy of this Mack Sennett short that I looked at seems to have been the second reel of this two-reel comedy, consisting of the day trip that Ralph Graves, pretty nurse Olive Borden, and assorted family members like Marvin Loback, William McCall and Eva Thatcher take. It's full of the usual late-silent Sennett gags, including disintegrating cars, pretty girls dangling in a way that exposes their shapely legs, and people falling into the water.

It's all handled in a thoroughly comic manner by director Lloyd Bacon. Sennett's operations well a well-oiled machine that could turn out a funny comedy, full of gags big and little with such proficiency that you didn't have to be a comic to star in them; hence Ralph Graves.

Fun Sennett Comedy
HarleanHayworth1 July 2016
Good Morning Nurse is a terrific Mack Sennett comedy starring Olive Borden and Ralph Graves. For many years I thought this film was lost but it recently popped up on You Tube.

Ralph plays a young millionaire who is obsessed with cleanliness and in love with his beautiful nurse (Olive Borden). She convinces him to take his entire staff on a camping trip so he can be more adventurous. Of course everything goes wrong - he gets into a fight with a motorist, accidentally shoots someone at the campgrounds, and Nurse Olive ends up stuck in a tree!

Olive Borden gives a stand-out performance in one of her first leading roles. She became a very popular silent star but died tragically in 1947.

Good Morning Nurse is a fun, fast paced comedy. If you're a fan of Mack Sennett films or just want to see beautiful Olive you should watch it.
