Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is reducing the publication of two of its magazines and laying off about 70 workers as it deals with declining advertising and circulation. The news comes ahead of the media company’s Friday morning quarterly earnings call, which had been rescheduled because of Hurricane Sandy. The company will cut back the publishing schedule of its Everyday Food magazine to 5 times a year, down from 10, and deliver the magazine as a supplement to subscribers of Martha Stewart Living, according to the New York Times. It will no longer be sold as a stand-alone publication. Whole Living magazine also is coming to an end. Company executives have been in discussions to sell the publication, which suffered a 24% decline in advertising pages in the past year. They plan to stop printing it by year’s end and fold the content into Martha Stewart Living if a sale is not concluded,...

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, the empire built by homemaking icon Martha Stewart, said it will scale back its publishing business to focus more on digital and video opportunities. The company said the move will save up to $35 million annually, in part by cutting an undisclosed number of jobs. It will seek a buyer for Whole Living magazine and it will turn Everyday Food magazine into an online publication with published supplements five times a year to be part of the company's flagship magazine, Martha Stewart Living. The restructuring includes previously announced partnerships with Hulu, AOL and FremantleMedia. "These

President Obama has declared the federal ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. But Natalie Neusch says what no one wants to talk about: a lot of gays just find gay marriage weird.
They cupped each other's hands and shifted their body weight ever-so-slightly. I had practiced the line a dozen times, but I couldn't believe what I was about to say: "By the power vested in me through the state of Massachusetts, I now pronounce you... married!" The room exploded with a cacophony of applause and clinking Champagne flutes. It was 2009, and I had just officiated the wedding of two of my gay friends.

Martha Stewart's plan to beat Oprah Winfrey to world domination started this week. While Miss O. is milking the last season of her talk show, giving away trips to Australia, and announcing left and right new series for her upcoming Own Network, Martha is quietly slipping into place.
Stewart is turning the Hallmark channel into her own kingdom without changing the call letters to MSN (that's already taken anyway) with eight hours of daytime programming Monday through Friday.
To kick it off, Monday morning saw the premiere of the sixth season of The Martha Stewart Show on its new network. The Emmy-winning series will air not once, not twice, but three times a day on Hallmark.
Next up is Martha's daughter Alexis Stewart and co-host Jennifer Koppelman Hutt on their own hour-long talk show, Whatever With Alexis & Jennifer. The irreverent daytime...

Our heads are on the verge of exploding as we program our DVRs for the upcoming fall TV season, which officially kicks off this week.
On Tuesday, the sophomore series Parenthood returns. The NBC show stars (newly dating) Peter Krause and Lauren Graham who play on-screen brother and sister. Also in the TV family are castmates Dax Shepard and Craig T. Nelson.
But the surprise of last season was that with all these major TV heavy-hitters, our favorite actor of the bunch was 13-year-old newcomer, Max Burkholder, who so convincingly plays a child with Asperger's Syndrome, that in many episodes he brought us to tears. We can't wait to see more.
Plus Billy Baldwin joins the cast as Peter Krause's boss. You can't go wrong with a Baldwin brother.
But this week we're most excited about the return of some of the best reality TV.
